A variable-resistance exercise machine with network communication for smart device control and brainwave entrainment, comprising an exercise machine with a plurality of moving surfaces, that each provide an independent degree of resistance to movement, a sensor that detects movement and provides output to a controller, a brainwave entrainment manager that selects a brainwave entrainment frequency based on the sensor output, and a controller that receives an input from a user device, changes the operation of the plurality of moving surfaces based on the input, and sends the brainwave entrainment frequency to the user device.

SURGEON HEAD-MOUNTED DISPLAY APPARATUSES

An augmented reality surgical system includes a head mounted display (HMD) with a see-through display screen, a motion sensor, a camera, and computer equipment. The motion sensor outputs a head motion signal indicating measured movement of the HMD. The computer equipment computes the relative location and orientation of reference markers connected to the HMD and to the patient based on processing a video signal from the camera. The computer equipment generates a three dimensional anatomical model using patient data created by medical imaging equipment, and rotates and scales at least a portion of the three dimensional anatomical model based on the relative location and orientation of the reference markers, and further rotate at least a portion of the three dimensional anatomical model based on the head motion signal to track measured movement of the HMD. The rotated and scaled three dimensional anatomical model is displayed on the display screen.

Controlling voice command execution via boundary creation

In an approach to controlling voice command execution via boundary creation, one or more computer processors determine one or more devices included in an Internet of Things platform. One or more computer processors receive, from a user, an indication of a boundary around two or more devices of the one or more devices. One or more computer processors create a boundary around the two or more devices of the one or more devices. One or more computer processors receive a voice command from the user associated with the two or more devices of the one or more devices. One or more computer processors transmit the voice command to the two or more devices of the one or more devices within the boundary.

INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR EXECUTING THE INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD
20180011681 · 2018-01-11 ·

An information processing method includes defining a virtual space for immersing a user wearing a head mounted display (HMD). The virtual space includes a viewpoint of the user, a sound collecting object separated from the viewpoint of the user, and a sound source object. The method includes processing sound data based on a relative positional relationship between the sound collecting object and the sound source object. The method includes instructing a sound outputting unit to output a sound based on the processed sound data. The method includes determining whether or not the viewpoint of the user is moved without synchronization with the movement of the HMD. In response to a determination that the viewpoint of the user is moved without synchronization with movement of the HMD, moving the sound collecting object so that the distance between the moved viewpoint of the user and the sound collecting object is decreased.

Measuring quality-of-experience (QoE) for virtual reality (VR) streaming content

Measuring quality-of-experience (QoE) for virtual reality (VR) streaming content is disclosed. A network computing device receives a client-side VR stream capture and a client pose data set that are generated by a client computing device based on a VR content and one or more induced network impairments (e.g., latency, packet loss, and/or jitter, as non-limiting examples). Using the same VR content and the client pose data set, the network computing device generates a source VR stream capture that is not subjected to the one or more induced network impairments. The network computing device performs a frame-by-frame comparison of the client-side VR stream capture and the source VR stream capture. Based on the frame-by-frame comparison, the network computing device generates a QoE metric that indicates a degree of degradation of the client-side VR stream capture relative to the source VR stream capture.

Display with image light steering

A display device includes a directional illuminator providing a light beam, a display panel downstream of a directional illuminator, for receiving and spatially modulating the light beam, and a beam redirecting module downstream of the display panel, for variably redirecting the spatially modulated light beam. Steering the illuminating light by the beam redirecting module enables one to steer the exit pupil of the display device to match the user's eye location(s).

INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, POSITION INFORMATION GENERATION METHOD, AND INFORMATION PROCESSING SYSTEM

An information processing apparatus includes a memory storing a program and at least one processor that executes the program to implement processes of detecting a speed of motion of a user based on motion information relating to a motion of the user that is detected by a detection device, and generating position information of a position indication display information item, which is displayed on a display device and indicates a position designated by the user, based on the motion information relating to the motion of the user. The position information of the position indication display information item is generated by restricting a moving direction of the position indication display information item to a predetermined direction when the detected speed of motion of the user does not meet a predetermined speed condition.
