Fabric, method for manufacturing same, and fiber product
The invention addresses the problem of providing a cloth that is excellent not only in flame retardancy and antistatic properties but also in appearance quality and preferably also has protection performance against electric arcs, a method for producing the same, and a textile product. A means for resolution is a cloth including a meta-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber and an electrically conductive fiber, wherein both the meta-type wholly aromatic polyamide fiber and the electrically conductive fiber are colored.
SIMPLIFIED CARDIOPULMONARY LIGHTNING PROTECTION GARMENT
A cardiopulmonary protective garment for providing limited protection from lightning is fabricated of a waterproof/breathable fabric, such as a Gore-Tex® laminate or equivalent. The garment keeps a wearer's body dry and supports a lightning flashover event when moist or wet on the outside, protecting the cardiopulmonary system. Strips of an electrically conductive fabric, such as Shieldex® or equivalent, can be attached in various arrangements on a posterior outer surface of the garment for igniting a rapid flashover. The conductive strips also provide attractive design details. In some embodiments, an inner heat shielding and flame resistant layer, made of a fabric such as NOMEX® or equivalent, can increase protection against burning caused by lightning and a flashover. Other embodiments may include a grounding strap electrically connected to the conductive strips for carrying charge to a local ground plane, such as the Earth; a cape-like drape of water-absorbing fabric having an electrically conductive element attached to a posterior side in general alignment with the wearer's spine; and a water-proof backpack having electrically conductive elements positioned to promote rapid flashover.

Carbon-containing aramid bicomponent filament yarns
A yarn comprising a plurality of bicomponent filaments having a first region comprising a first polymer composition and a second region comprising a second polymer composition; the regions being distinct and present in the bicomponent filaments in a sheath-core structure or a side-by-side structure; wherein the first polymer composition comprises aramid polymer containing 0.5 to 20 weight percent homogeneously dispersed discrete carbon particles and the second polymer composition comprises aramid polymer being free of discrete carbon particles and having at least one homogeneously dispersed masking pigment, the yarn having a total content of 0.5 to 5 weight percent discrete carbon particles.

Electrostatic Discharge Protection Assembly
An electrostatic discharge protection assembly includes a shirt that is worn on a user when the user is working with electronic equipment which is sensitive to electrostatic discharge. A set of first insulators is provided and each of the first insulators is woven into fabric of the shirt. Each of the first insulators is comprised of an electrically capacitive material to absorb static electrical energy in the user's body. A set of second insulators is provided and each of the second set of insulators is woven into fabric of the shirt. Each of the second insulators is comprised of an electrically insulating material. Thus, the second insulators inhibit electrical communication between the electronic device and the first insulators. In this way the potential for electrostatic discharge between the user and the electronic device is reduced.
