Intervertebral tensional artificial disc replacement

Disclosed herein is an intervertebral tensional artificial disc replacement, insertable between adjacent vertebrae, which includes an inferior plate engaging with a lower vertebra and providing elastic force to an upper vertebra, and a superior plate seated on an upper portion of the inferior plate to engage with the upper vertebra, the superior plate being rotatable right and left within a certain angular range depending on rotation of the upper vertebra. Since the adjacent vertebrae are supported by elastic force, it is possible to prevent abrasion due to frequent friction between upper and lower bodies of the artificial disc replacement. In addition, the intervertebral artificial disc replacement can engage well with a spine and move well by locating the central axis of motion of the intervertebral artificial disc replacement at a rearward position, similar to the central axis of the body's spinal motion.

A cup impactor has a shaft having a distal end, a proximate end, and an intermediate section between the distal end and the proximate end. A cup adapter for a cup may be disposed at the distal end, the cup adapter adapted to detachably retain the cup during a hip replacement operation. A modular plate adapter for a modular plate may be disposed at the proximate end, the modular plate adapter adapted to detachably retain the modular plate during the hip replacement operation, the modular plate adapted to at least one of an impactor, a mallet, a pneumatic hammer, or a robotic arm. An attachment point for an array of transmitters may be disposed at the intermediate section, the array of transmitters coupled to a receiver, the array of transmitters transmitting location and orientation data of the cup impactor to the receiver.

EXPANDABLE INTERVERTEBRAL CAGE

The present disclosure relates to an expandable intervertebral cage (1) with a base (2) comprising a peripheral circumferential side wall (7) extending in a first direction (x) and a first bone interaction surface (5); a stage (3) comprising a second bone interaction surface (6) arranged essentially opposite to the first bone interaction surface (5) with respect to the expandable intervertebral cage (1); and a locking mechanism (4) for locking the position of the second bone interaction surface (6) of the stage (3) with respect to the first bone interaction surface (5) of the base (2) at least in the first direction (x) and being arranged at least partially within the circumferential side wall (7) of the base (2).

INTERVERTEBRAL FUSION IMPLANT

The present invention provides an intervertebral implant for implantation in a treated area of an intervertebral space between vertebral bodies of a spine. The implant includes a spacer portion having an inferior and superior surface, wherein the inferior and superior surfaces each have a contact area capable of engaging with anatomy in the treated area, and the inferior and superior surfaces define a through-hole extending through the spacer body. The present invention further provides screw holes extending from a side portion to the inferior and superior surfaces of the spacer portion and a plate portion rigidly coupled to the spacer portion through a coupling means, wherein the plate portion contains screws holes for receiving screws. A screw back out prevention mechanism adapted on the plate portion and prevents the back out of screws from the screw holes.

Composite prosthetic surfaces

A composite article (e.g., prosthesis) and method of preparing the article is provided. An article may include a body having a matrix of a first hardness having a plurality of particles of a second hardness embedded in the matrix in fixed locations, the second hardness being harder than the first hardness, and the matrix having an external wear surface with a portion of the particles being proximal to or exposed at the external wear surface. The matrix with the particles may improve the life and durability of the article.

METHOD FOR TREATING JOINT PAIN AND ASSOCIATED INSTRUMENTS

The embodiments provide provides devices, instruments, and associated methods for treating joint pain. A joint is evaluated using magnetic resonance imaging to detect any defects in the subchondral bone. For example, using T2-weighted MRI images, bone marrow lesions or edemas can be identified, and using T1-weighted MRI images, associated regions of sclerotic bone adjacent to the bone marrow lesion can be identified. The treatment method may involve introducing a bone void filler material at the site to address the bone marrow lesion or edema, and/or drilling and inserting an implant to address the sclerotic bone, bone marrow lesion or edema, and insufficiency or stress fractures. An access path is mapped to a location in the subchondral region where the insufficiency fracture resides. The access path attempts to preserve an articular surface of the joint. A reinforcing member that stabilizes the insufficiency fracture is then implanted via the access path.
