Bone fusion device, apparatus and method

A bone fusion method, apparatus and device for insertion between bones that are to be fused together and/or in place of one or more of the bones, such as, for example, the vertebrae of a spinal column. The bone fusion device comprises one or more extendable plates having a central rib. The bone fusion device includes one or more support channels configured to receive an insertion instrument that is then secured to the bone fusion device via a coupling mechanism. As a result, the coupled device is able to be securely positioned between vertebrae using the insertion instrument with minimal risk of slippage.

Intervertebral implant with blades for connecting to adjacent vertebral bodies

An intervertebral implant for insertion into an intervertebral disc space between adjacent vertebral bodies or between two bone portions. The implant includes a spacer portion, a plate portion operatively coupled to the spacer portion and one or more blades for securing the implant to the adjacent vertebral bodies. The blades preferably include superior and inferior cylindrical pins for engaging the adjacent vertebral bodies. The implant may be configured to be inserted via a direct lateral trans-psoas approach. Alternatively, the implant may be configured for insertion via an anterior approach.

Spinal artificial disc removal tool

An extraction tool for removing an installed artificial disc from a spine is provided. The extraction tool is impacted between the artificial disc and the vertebrae and engages the artificial disc to allow a surgeon to remove the artificial disc from the spine.

This surgical instrumentation assembly is for positioning a shoulder prosthesis, the shoulder prosthesis comprising a patient-specific shoulder implant adapted to fit onto a glenoid cavity of the scapula of a patient. The assembly comprises a patient-specific impacting device having an underside surface congruent with the glenoid cavity of the scapula of the patient, said underside surface being provided with protrusions adapted to perforate the cortical bone of the scapula upon impact of the impacting device against the scapula by a one-sided translation movement.

Modular stem extension

The modular stem component may include a shaft portion, a head, and a sleeve. The shaft portion is configured for receipt within the intramedullary canal of a bone and the head is configured to receive another component of a modular prosthetic system, such as a femoral neck, thereon. In one exemplary embodiment, the head extends radially around at least a portion of the stem and includes a rib defining a flange extending therefrom. The sleeve, which is formed as an independent part of the modular stem component and is made at least partially of a highly porous biomaterial, includes opposing ends and has a bore extending therethrough. The bore is configured to facilitate sliding receipt of the sleeve on the head.

Multi-walled placeholder

A placeholder for vertebrae or vertebral discs includes a tubular body, which along its jacket surface has a plurality of breakthroughs or openings for over-growth with adjacent tissue. The placeholder includes at least a second tubular body provided with a plurality of breakthroughs and openings at least partially inside the first tubular body. The first and second tubular bodies can have different cross-sectional shapes, can be are arranged inside one another by press fit or force fit or can be connected to each other via connecting pins and arranged side by side to one another in the first body.

Humeral stem for a shoulder prosthesis humeral implant

An integral humeral stem includes a diaphyseal portion which has, orthogonal to a diaphyseal axis, an octagonal cross-section with convex rounded angles, and a metaphyseal portion in the form of a flared corolla which extends the diaphyseal portion up to a proximal face, which has, orthogonal to a central axis, an octagonal cross-section with convex rounded angles so that the humeral stem has a peripheral surface provided with eight lateral facets and eight rounded fillets which continuously extend from the diaphyseal portion to the metaphyseal portion. On the metaphyseal portion, the rounded fillets progressively widen and the lateral facets progressively narrow from the diaphyseal portion in the direction of the proximal face.

Method for manufacturing a bone pin for connection to a bone, particularly for fixing an implant to a bone, the bone pin having an implant contacting part arranged to contact the implant in connected situation and a bone contacting part arranged to engage the bone in connected situation, wherein the method comprises the steps of:—providing bone information which is indicative for the bone which the bone contacting part is arranged to engage;—providing a bone contacting part which is customized on the basis of the bone information for engaging said bone;—providing an implant contacting part; and—assembling the bone contacting part and the implant contacting part for manufacturing the pin.

Medical use honeycomb structure

A medical use honeycomb structure having a plurality of through-holes extending in one direction, wherein an outer peripheral section of the medical use honeycomb structure has a through-hole groove formed by incomplete side walls of the through-hole, and a through-hole inlet adjacent to the through-hole groove.
