Suture-locking washer for use with a bone anchor, and method for supporting the thumb of a patient after basal joint arthroplasty, and other novel orthopedic apparatus and other novel orthopedic procedures
The invention provides surgical methods, devices, apparatus, and systems for supporting the thumb of a patient after basal joint arthroplasty. The embodiments of the invention comprise at least one index metacarpal anchor, at least one thumb metacarpal anchor, at least one sling for positioning the thumb metacarpal anchor relative to the index metacarpal anchor, and at least one anchor washer for tightening and securing the sling(s) without the need to tie the suture(s) components of the sling(s) into knots. Index and thumb metacarpal anchors comprise at least one bone-engaging element for engaging the respective metacarpal. The anchor washer may incorporate one or more sling-engagement mechanisms. Increasing the number of sling-engagement mechanisms associated with the anchor washer increases the surface area of the sling(s) and provides multiple sling elements to provide redundancy and increase the pull force of the sling(s) attachment(s) used to affix the thumb and index metacarpal anchors into a position relative to each other.
Implant for removable prosthetic nail
An assembly for mounting a prosthetic nail for a human or animal digit. The assembly includes at least one transdermal anchor with an interior portion and an exterior portion. The interior portion may be positioned within tissue of the digit, and the exterior portion may extend outside the tissue of the digit. In another aspect, an exterior base may be positioned on a nail bed of the digit, and the exterior base may be coupled to the exterior portion of the transdermal anchor. The base may include a mount for removably a prosthetic nail to the base.
TOE IMPLANT, RELATED KIT, SURGICAL METHOD, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING
Disclosed herein is a toe implant for replacing a portion of a human toe joint, as well as a related kit, surgical method, and method of manufacturing. Specifically, the toe implant may include a bearing member having a curved interface surface and a fixation member coupled to the bearing member. The fixation member may include a first portion having a non-porous barrier, and a tapered second portion.
Device for osteosyntheses or arthrodesis of two-bone parts, in particular of the hand and/or foot
In one embodiment, the present invention is a method of arthrodesis or osteosyntheses of a first bone part and a second bone part, including the steps of positioning a first fixation zone of an implant in the first bone part and a second fixation zone of the implant in the second bone part, both the first and second zones made of shape-memory material and, prior to positioning the bone parts, are in an inner position; and while the first fixation zone is within the first bone part and the second fixation zone is within the second bone part, fixating the respective first and second fixation zones within the respective bone parts through shape-memory action at body temperature.
ORTHOPEDIC SURGICAL GUIDE
A surgical device includes an body extending from a proximal end to a distal end. The distal end of the body defines a notch sized and configured to receive a reamer. A coupling assembly is supported by the body and includes a reamer guide body disposed at the distal end of the body. The reamer guide body configured to move between a first position and a second position in which the reaming guide body extends at least partially across the notch. A locking assembly is supported by the body and is configured to releasably engage the coupling assembly to maintain the reamer guide body in the second position.
Medical implant and method of diagnosing and/or treating inflammatory tissue conditions
A medical implant includes a sensor that detects electromagnetic waves; and a data transmission unit that can wirelessly transmit data supplied by the sensor to a receiving unit.

Artificial Ankle Joint Bearing Element
Proposed is an artificial ankle joint bearing element in which a contact area of the bearing element with a talus element is increased such that stress is evenly distributed during bearing movement of the bearing element on the talus element and wear of the bearing element is reduced under the same load; the bearing element has a front and a rear convexly formed to increase a contact area with a tibial element and distribute stress; and the front and rear of the bearing element are asymmetrically formed such that the rear thereof is formed to have a smaller height than the front thereof so as to facilitate the insertion of the bearing element into space between the talus element and the tibial element from an anterior side thereof during artificial ankle joint surgery.
Transcortal bone joint fusion system
Disclosed is a system and method for fusing two bones within a mammal. More particularly described is such a system and method for a transcortical fusion system wherein which a plate is affixed in a longitudinal slot or aperture cut into the anterior portion of the tibia and the talus, thereby achieving a fusion of the joint while placing the fusion site in the joint in compression.
Implant peg with multiple components
An implant system comprises an implant plate adapted to be positioned on a surface of a resected bone. The implant plate has a plurality of openings. A plurality of independently positionable pegs attach the implant plate to the bone. Each peg has a longitudinal axis and comprises: a peg body and a retaining device. The peg body is inserted into a peg hole in the bone. The peg body has a transverse dimension in a direction normal to the longitudinal axis, the transverse dimension larger than the openings of the plate. The retaining device is separate from the peg body, and is configured to attach to the peg body, with at least a first portion of the retaining device positioned above an upper surface of the implant plate, and a connecting portion of the retaining device extending through one of the openings of the implant plate.
