Diffing a subject replayable execution trace against a plurality of comparison replayable execution traces
Diffing a subject replayable trace against a plurality of comparison replayable traces includes identifying a set of mappings among the comparison replayable traces, each identifying corresponding comparison sections of consecutive instructions recorded in the comparison replayable traces that execute equivalently. A plurality of distinct comparison sections are identified within the comparison replayable traces. Each of a plurality of subject sections within the subject trace is compared against distinct comparison section(s) to determine a comparison status for each subject section, including whether each subject section is (i) equal to at least one corresponding distinct comparison section, or (ii) different than the distinct comparison sections. The determined comparison status of at least one particular subject section with respect at least one particular corresponding distinct comparison section is applied to each additional comparison section to which the at least one particular distinct comparison section is mapped in the set of mappings.
Diffing a subject replayable execution trace against a comparison replayable execution trace
Diffing a subject replayable trace against a comparison replayable trace includes identifying a first plurality of functions within a first sequence of instructions recorded in the subject trace, and identifying a second plurality of functions a second sequence of instructions recorded in the comparison trace. A first plurality of groups of the first plurality of functions, and a second plurality of groups of the second plurality of functions are identified. The first and second pluralities of groups are compared, including determining, based on an identity of each group, and on function(s) corresponding to the group, if each first group in the first plurality of groups is at least one of: equal to a second group in the second plurality of groups, a replacement of a second group in the second plurality of groups, deleted from the second plurality of groups, or inserted into the second plurality of groups.
TECHNIQUE FOR COLLECTING STATE INFORMATION OF AN APPARATUS
A technique for collecting state information of an apparatus comprising a processing pipeline for executing a sequence of instructions, and interesting instruction designation circuitry for identifying at least one of the instructions in the sequence as being an interesting instruction. Each interesting instruction is an instruction for which given state information of the apparatus associated with execution of that interesting instruction is to be collected. The interesting instruction designation circuitry is arranged, for each identified interesting instruction, to apply defined selection criteria to determine a further instruction later in the sequence of instructions than the interesting instruction, and to mark that further instruction as having a synchronous exception associated therewith. The processing pipeline is responsive to the further instruction, which causes the processing pipeline to execute a given exception handling routine in order to collect the given state information.
DYNAMIC DEBUG TRACING WITH MACHINE LEARNING
A method, computer program product, and system include a processor(s) that obtains a request for a transaction to be processed by an application in a computing system. The processor(s) applies, to the request for the transaction, an outlier detection model, to determine whether the transaction comprises attributes matching transaction tuples of one or more historical transactions identified as triggering issues in the computing system when the application processed the historical transactions. The processor(s) classifies the transaction as being an outlier transaction or as being a standard transaction, based on applying the outlier detection model. Based on determining that the transaction is an outlier transaction, concurrently with the application processing the transaction, the processor(s) turn on the debug trace to debug trace the application processing of the transaction.
Debugging arrangement for active ethernet cable
A cable, a manufacturing method, and a usage method, each facilitate product development, testing, and debugging. An illustrative embodiment of a cable manufacturing method includes: connecting a first connector plug to a first data recovery and re-modulation (DRR) device and to a first controller device; and coupling electrical signal conductors to the first DRR device to convey electrical transit signals to and from a second DRR device, the second DRR device being connected to a second connector plug. The first controller device is operable in response to a host command to initiate a debug dump by the first DRR device and to store the debug dump in a nonvolatile memory.
Smart span prioritization based on ingestion service backpressure
Disclosed techniques relate to automatically instrumenting a web application. In an aspect, a method identifies that a web application includes an event that is triggered by a user interaction. The method associates the event with a tracer that is configured to log tracing information based on an execution of a first set of operations caused by the event and to obtain a first measurement of performance of a first span. The method identifies, in the code, that the execution of a first set of operations causes a request to be made to a server. The method associates the request with the tracer. The tracer is configured to log tracing information based on an execution of a second set of operations caused by the request and to obtain a second measurement of performance of a second span that is a child span of the first span.
Rendering a service graph to illustrate page provider dependencies
A method of rendering a service graph responsive to a query comprises generating a plurality of frontend traces and a plurality of backend traces associated with an application or website. The method also comprises determining connection information between one or more frontend traces of the plurality of frontend traces and corresponding backend traces of the plurality of backend traces. Further, the method comprises consolidating the one or more frontend traces with the corresponding backend traces to form one or more end-to-end traces using the connection information. Responsive to the query, the method comprises retrieving a set of exemplary end-to-end traces from the one or more end-to-end traces and rendering a service graph in accordance with constraints applied in the query using the set of exemplary end-to-end traces and the connection information.
Providing for multi-process log debug without running on a production environment
Methods, computer program products, and/or systems are provided that perform the following operations: determining that a log multi-process debug mode is specified; obtaining a log file for debugging a source code, wherein the log file includes a plurality of log records; inserting a plurality of process identifier fields into each current log record in the log file; inserting a new log record into the log file for a created new process; and providing for performance of debugging for the source code based in part on the plurality of process identifier fields inserted into each current log record.
