METHOD FOR CONTROLLING AN ARTIFICIAL ORTHOTIC OR PROSTHETIC KNEE JOINT
A method for controlling an artificial orthotic or prosthetic knee joint, on which a lower-leg component is arranged and with which a resistance device is associated, the bending resistance (R) of which resistance device is changed in dependence on sensor data that are determined by means of at least one sensor during the use of the orthotic or prosthetic knee joint, wherein a linear acceleration (a.sub.F) of the lower-leg component is determined, the determined linear acceleration (a.sub.F) is compared with at least one threshold value, and, if a threshold value of the linear acceleration (a.sub.F) of the lower-leg component is reached, the bending resistance (R) is changed.
INTELLIGENT JOINT PROSTHESIS
Medical devices coupled to a sensor, and systems including such devices, can generate data and analysis based on that data, which may be used to identify and/or address problems associated with the implanted medical device, including incorrect placement of the device, unanticipated degradation of the device, and undesired movement of the device. Also provided are medical devices coupled to a sensor, and devices and methods to address problems that have been identified with an implanted medical device.
NEEDLE GUIDING ARRANGEMENT FOR IMPLANTATION OF TRANSFORMER CORE
A needle guiding arrangement, for guiding a surgical needle when applying sutures joining two skin surfaces inside an opening of a transformer core to implant the transformer core under the skin of a patient, the needle guiding arrangement comprising: a first needle guiding member; a second needle guiding member; and an alignment arrangement configured to align the first needle guiding member and the second needle guiding member on opposite sides of the opening of the transformer core along an alignment axis passing through the first needle guiding member, the opening of the transformer core and the second needle guiding member.
DEVICE FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF INCONTINENCE-RELATED SYMPTOMS
The present invention relates to the application of medical devices that manage urinary incontinence. The inter-bladder/urethra implanted device allows for passive urine leakage above a threshold bladder pressure and subject-controlled opening and closing of a valve to allow urine passage, below the threshold bladder pressure. The valve is preferably a deformable sac which seals against the interior of the urethra when closed. The valve can be opened by withdrawing slightly from the urethra surface. Passive urine leakage to prevent over-pressure can be facilitated by including external channels on the valve sac. In another embodiment, the valve sac has a central passage which expands and contracts for opening and closing, respectively.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MANAGING OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA
A device and method for managing obstructive sleep apnea in patients. The device includes a first implantable member and a second implantable member, both configured to generate a magnetic field. The first implantable member is implanted in a base of a tongue and the second implantable member is implanted in a soft palate such that like magnetic poles of the first implantable member and the second implantable member face each other resulting in repulsion between the first implantable member and the second implantable member. The repulsive force between the first implantable member and the second implantable member can open the respiratory airway and keep it open.
Grayson Bionic Penis (GBP)
This prosthesis is likely to be implanted surgically in males for the treatment of erectile disfunction, higher degree of female satisfaction, erection improvement, greater erection management, cosmetic enhancement, and or premature ejaculation concerns and it has at least one flexible semi-rigid inflatable computerized remote controlled software driven sleeve bladder that can be inflated to create an erection or deflated on demand, implanted inside the inner wall and encompassing the circumference of the penis, and can incorporate at least one rechargeable vibrator device, at least one flexible inflatable computerized remote controlled cylindrical bladder, implanted inside the penis body, that can be inflated to create an erection, a computerized remote controlled fluid-filled reservoir implanted under the abdominal wall, a wirelessly rechargeable computerized remote controlled pump and release valve placed under the abdominal wall with a subcutaneous wireless recharging system. Each device is controlled by an erection management system (EMS) and corresponding software.
IMPLANTABLE INFLATABLE DEVICE AND THERAPEUTIC METHODS
An implantable inflatable device includes a fluid reservoir defining a cavity, an inflatable member, a pump assembly configured to transfer fluid from the fluid reservoir to the inflatable member, and a programmable control module, the programmable control module being configured activate the pump assembly to transfer fluid from the fluid reservoir to the inflatable member.
Self-accomodating lens and method for controlling a self-accomodating lens
The disclosure relates to a self-accommodating lens, which is formed in particular as contact lens. A plurality of actuators are arranged in a star-shaped manner on the front side of the lens body. The angle to the adjacent lens is determined by detection of a directional radio signal.
SYSTEM AND METHOD TO ALTER BONE GROWTH IN A TARGETED SPATIAL REGION FOR THE USE WITH IMPLANTS
A system and method for altering bone growth on and within an orthopedic implant that includes an implant body; a plurality of electrodes, wherein each electrode is at least partially embedded in the implant body, and comprises: a set of primary electrodes comprising at least one electrode, wherein a non-embedded segment of each primary electrode is proximal to a bone growth region, a set of secondary electrodes comprising at least one electrode, wherein a non-embedded segment of each secondary electrode is distal to the bone growth region, and wherein the plurality of electrodes are configured to function in a stimulation operating mode, such that a subset of primary electrodes function as cathodes and a subset of secondary electrodes function as anodes; a control system comprising a processor, and circuitry that connects to the plurality of electrodes; and a power system.
Hip Joint Method
A method of treating a hip joint of a human patient using a pelvic drill comprising a driving member, a bone contacting and an operating device for operating said driving member. The method comprise the steps of creating a hole passing through the pelvic bone and into the hip joint of the human patient, and providing at least one hip joint surface to the hip joint, through said hole in the pelvic bone of the human patient. In one embodiment the method includes inserting a needle or tube like instrument into the patient's body for filling a part of the patient's body with gas and thereby expanding a cavity within the body.
