ELECTRONIC RECORD INFORMATION DISPLAYING APPARATUS AND METHOD
An electronic record information displaying apparatus includes a display unit, and a control unit configured to cause the display unit to display a first display area that displays an edge image corresponding to an edge of document and a second display area that displays an image of a first page corresponding to a specific position designated to the edge image.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND NUMERICAL VALUE COUNTING METHOD
To provide an image forming apparatus having an excellent operability for inputting a numerical value, an image forming apparatus (1) includes a touch panel (20), an angle change calculating portion (100), and a numerical value counting portion (130). The touch panel (20) is configured to detect touches of a plurality of fingers. The angle change calculating portion (100) is configured to, when it is detected that a first finger and a second finger have been touched to the touch panel (20), calculate an angle change of the second finger with the first finger as a fulcrum. The numerical value counting portion (130) is configured to count a numerical value that is input, in response to the angle change calculated by the angle change calculating portion (100).
METHOD AND APPARATUS APPLICABLE FOR VOICE RECOGNITION WITH LIMITED DICTIONARY IN A VEHICLE
One embodiment includes an apparatus, with materials having a text sub file with texts, an illustration sub file with illustrations, and a logic sub file with instructions for presenting at least a part of the materials. One embodiment includes materials with a logic sub file that can analyze an attribute of, and provide a response to, a user. Another embodiment is applicable to apparatus and methods using a limited voice recognition dictionary at least tailored for a piece of materials that includes illustrations. The piece of materials includes instructions. The another embodiment can also use a limited image dictionary. The apparatus can include a headset, and the illustrations can include a piece of audio. The apparatus can be implemented in a vehicle.
Multimedia communications with synchronized graphical user interfaces
Techniques for performing multimedia communications including audio and video (including still-frame video) are described. During a multimedia communication involving two devices, one of the devices may receive a user input to display digital book covers. In response, each device may display live video (captured by each device of the multimedia communication) and still-frame video corresponding to digital book covers. Thereafter, in response to a further user input, each device may display the live video and still-frame video corresponding to a specific page of one of the digital books. Each device may receive a user input for controlling the still-frame video displayed.
Method and apparatus to layout screens of varying sizes
Different methods and apparatuses applicable to prepare materials for a user. One embodiment includes a device, with an imaging sensor. Based on analyzing a user attribute from the imaging sensor monitoring the user, the device can identify and access an area of the materials for the user. The area includes a section, and the device can layout the section by keeping a piece of text together with an illustration to be displayed in at least two screens of different sizes. Another embodiment includes materials with a text sub file with texts, an illustration sub file with illustrations, and a logic sub file with instructions to prepare materials for the user. Either the text or the illustration sub file can include position information linking at least an illustration to a corresponding piece of text. Annotations could be added to the materials.
Sentimental and emotional analysis of electronic documents
Provided is a method and system for recommending an e-book. A processor may collect reader data related to a plurality of e-books from a plurality of user devices. The processor may determine an interest score for each section of a plurality of sections of each e-book. The processor may identify a set of sections from the plurality of sections that meet a predetermined interest score threshold. The processor may analyze the set of sections to determine a sentimental score for each section. The processor may generate a scoring matrix using the interest score and the sentimental score for each section of each e-book. The processor may compare scoring matrices of each e-book of the plurality of e-books. The processor may identify two or more e-books having similar scoring matrices. The processor may provide a recommendation to a user based on the identified two or more e-books.
Method, medium, and system for an electronic bookshelf
Techniques are disclosed for purchasing, accessing, consuming, and/or providing electronic content using an electronic bookshelf (eBookshelf) system. The eBookshelf system can be used by accessing a touchscreen-based user interface and/or local hardware controls and/or a remote control. A user's personal library of eBooks and/or any other electronic content can be displayed and/or aurally presented. In addition, the vast content of commercial retailers can also be displayed for browsing and purchase/rental. If the user identifies a content selection on the eBookshelf system that he/she wishes to consume, it can be readily transferred from the system to a personal content consuming device. Multiple eBookshelf systems can be attached to one another to extend the length and/or height of the eBookshelf. Accessing the eBookshelf system by a user ID allows multiple users to enjoy a personally customized version of the system.
E-book reading comprehension analytics
Reading comprehension of a user can be assessed by presenting, in a graphical user interface, sequential reading text comprising a plurality of passages. The graphical user interface can alternate between (i) automatically advancing through passages of the reading text and (ii) manually advancing through passages of the reading text within the graphical user interface which is in response to user-generated input received via the graphical user interface. An audio narration is provided during the automatic advancing of the reading text. An audio file is recorded during the manual advancing of the reading text which is used to automatically determine an estimated level of reading comprehension of the user. Data characterizing the determined level of reading comprehension of the user can then be provided (e.g., displayed, loaded into memory, stored on a hard drive, transmitted to a remote computing system, etc.). Related apparatus, systems, techniques and articles are also described.
