A first node receives a subset of remote proposed operations from a second node and determines if a conflict exists between the received subset of remote proposed operations and at least one of a plurality of locally-proposed operations. The first node resolves the conflict based on a total-ordering agreed upon between the first node and the second node. The first node transforms at least one operation, either received or locally-proposed, based on the resolved conflict. The first node than updates a local log to include the transformed operation.

A method includes: receiving, by a computing device, input defining a custom storage class in a first dispersed storage network; receiving, by the computing device, input defining a data management rule in the first dispersed storage network; determining, by the computing device, a data object in the first dispersed storage network satisfies the data management rule; and moving, by the computing device and in response to the determining, the data object to a second dispersed storage network according to the custom storage class.

The method includes: performing striping processing on a target file to obtain multiple target objects, and calculating fingerprint information of each target object; using a first target object and logical information of the target file to form a logical header object, and storing the logical header object in a storage system; using the fingerprint information of each second target object to determine whether the second target object has been stored in the storage system; and if the second target object has not been stored in the storage system, determining the second target object as a third target object and storing same in the storage system. According to the method, logical information of each file can be preserved, and files of some users can be prevented from being modified or deleted after deduplication is performed in the storage system.

In some embodiments, a method of building synchronization events by a synchronization component (e.g., a synchronization server/client) includes obtaining a set of items that have been changed and their new states and retrieving last known states of the set of items that are stored in a reference snapshot inside a filesystem scanner. The method further includes generating differences between the new states and the last known states of the set of items as item changes and utilizing information provided by the item changes to translate the item changes into synchronization events for execution on the opposing file system. A method of handling failed synchronization events by a synchronization component of the cloud-based platform by collapsing a subsequent event with the failed synchronization event is also disclosed.
