Limb prosthesis
A limb prosthesis including a palm, a forearm, an upper arm, an elbow joint and a wrist joint is provided. The palm has a first pivot and a first lock set. The upper arm has a socket. The elbow joint connects the forearm to the upper arm. The wrist joint includes a first connecting rod connected to the forearm. The first pivot rotatably penetrates through the first connecting rod. The first lock set is locked to the first pivot. A first wedge surface of the first lock set contacts a second wedge surface of the first connecting rod. By adjusting a distance between the first lock set and the first pivot, a magnitude of a forward force between the first wedge surface and the second wedge surface is adjusted, such that the palm is fixed relative to the first connecting rod or rotatable around an axial direction perpendicular to an extending direction of the forearm.
Pump system
A prosthetic system includes a prosthetic foot having an upper foot element with a concave-forward facing portion and foot portion extending forwardly therefrom. An intermediate foot element is disposed below the upper foot element and has a front portion coupled to the foot portion of the upper foot element. A lower foot element is disposed below the intermediate foot element. A pump system is coupled to the prosthetic foot and comprises a pump mechanism including a housing defining a cavity, and a membrane situated in the cavity. The pump mechanism is movable between an original configuration and an expanded configuration. An arm member is connected to the pump mechanism and operatively coupled to the intermediate foot element. The arm member is arranged to move the pump mechanism toward at least the expanded configuration upon movement of the intermediate foot element relative to the upper foot element.
ADJUSTABLE SEAL SYSTEM, SEAL COMPONENT AND METHOD FOR USING THE SAME
An adjustable seal system, seal component for use in the system, and method are provided for forming a sealing interface between a residual limb and a prosthetic socket. The seal component is selectively placed over the outer surface of a suspension liner including a plurality of seal bands, which the seal component may removably and securely engage.
System for control of a prosthetic device
A control system for control of a prosthetic device having a plurality of actuators receives an orientation signal indicative of a desired movement. The control system evaluates whether the prosthetic device may move as desired with a current angle of rotation and commands at least one actuator to move the prosthetic device as desired by maintaining the current angle of rotation or by adjusting the angle of rotation if the prosthetic device cannot move as desired with the current angle. The control system may alternate between commanding a first subset of actuators and a second subset of actuators each time the orientation signal is indicative of a neutral position. The control system may include a position sensor and a compliance sensor and may command at least one actuator based on a combination of positional control using the position sensor and force control using the compliance sensor.
Prosthetic device with a rotatable pyramid and lateral travel limit
A prosthetic device having a rotatable pyramid and lateral travel limit is provided. A first member has a first end connectable to a prosthetic component and a second end with a bar having sides and a distal face. The distal face has ribs thereon. A central hole is provided through the first member. A second member has a first end with a pyramid and a second end with a ring that defines a recess with a solid face. A third member has a dome on a first end and a channel on the second end. The pyramid extends through a central hole through the dome. A screw passes through the central hole of the first member wherein it can engage the second member within the recess. The lateral movement of the bar within the channel is bound by the screw contacting the second member.
Bidirectional biomechanical prosthetic full finger configured for abduction and adduction with MCP pivot
The disclosure provides apparatus and methods of use pertaining to a bidirectional biomechanical prosthetic finger assembly. In one embodiment, the assembly includes an eccentric metacarpophalangeal (MCP) pivot configured for swivelable attachment to a hand of a user, a distal coupler, and an articulation assembly rotatively coupled therebetween. A ring configured to receive a user's residual finger is disposed upon the articulation assembly, and may be adjusted to a target location based on a length of the residual finger. The articulation assembly is configured to utilize vertical movements of the residual finger within the ring to articulate the distal coupler within a plane parallel to an x-z plane, and the MCP pivot is configured to utilize lateral movements of the residual finger within the ring to articulate the distal coupler within a plane parallel to an x-y plane. Other embodiments are also disclosed.
NON-SNAG PROSTHETIC FOOT AND LEG
The present disclosure illustrates a prosthetic foot that may reduce snagging on external obstacles. In some embodiments, a prosthetic foot includes a symmetric wear member that is rotatable to allow a user to alter an orientation of the symmetric wear member for even wear. A cuff may couple to the symmetric wear member, and include the proximal end comprising a receptacle with an opening having an adjustable diameter. The receptacle may be sized and shaped to receive and selectively retain the prosthesis pylon by adjusting the diameter of the opening. The prosthetic foot may further include a vertical adjustment mechanism that selectively alters a depth of the receptacle of the cuff to vertically displace the prosthesis pylon.
PROSTHETIC APPARATUS AND METHOD THEREFOR
Various aspects of the present disclosure characterize apparatuses and/or methods as may be implemented with a variety of prosthetic components and applications. As may be consistent with one or more embodiments described herein, movement parameters pertaining to movement of a user of a prosthetic foot are sensed as the user travels along a surface, with the prosthetic foot having a front ball region and a rear heel region for respectively contacting the surface. A state of movement of the user, including a speed at which the user is travelling along the surface, is determined based on the sensed movement parameters. Utilizing a mechanical actuator, the prosthetic foot is dynamically positioned in response to the speed at which the user is travelling along the surface, by manipulating the mechanical actuator to move the rear heel region relative to the front ball region based on changes in the speed.
