Adaptable socket system, method, and kit
An adjustable prosthetic device and a fitting tool for positing the prosthetic device on a limb are described. The prosthetic device comprises two or more adjustable paddles that are movably coupled with an adapter via connectors. The connectors allow the paddles to be repositioned relative to a user's limb. The paddles are sized and dimensioned to capture lost motion between the limb and the prosthetic device through skeletal compression and tissue displacement. The fitting tool comprises two or more compression bars that removably couple with the two or more paddles of the prosthetic device. The fitting tool also comprises two or more linear actuators that control the positions of the compression bars and the paddles relative to the limb.
INTERCHANGEABLE LOCAL INTERFACE PROSTHETIC SOCKET APPARATUS AND SYSTEM
An additive manufacturing method and apparatus for interchangeable local interface support geometry and materials in lower limb prosthetic sockets. An interchangeable local interface prosthetic socket is configured to enable a user of the socket to configure variable support, pressure, and comfort characteristics of lower limb prosthetic sockets by selectively replacing an interface panel and/or distal cup with an alternative interface panel and/or distal cup being configured to have different physical characteristics.
ADJUSTABLE SOCKET SYSTEM
An adjustable socket system includes a distal portion and proximal portion. An axis extends between the distal and proximal portions. A plurality of struts are connected to the distal portion and distributed circumferentially about the axis. The struts at least in part define a receiving volume adapted to receive a residual limb and are movable between an expanded configuration in which at least some of the struts are moved radially outward relative to the axis to loosen the fit of the adjustable system, and a closed configuration in which at least some of the struts are moved radially inward relative to the expanded configuration to tighten the fit of the adjustable socket system. A tightening system is operatively connected to the struts and arranged to differentially tighten and loosen the fit of the adjustable socket system on one or more areas of the residual limb via a single input.
ADJUSTABLE SOCKET SYSTEM
An adjustable socket system includes a base, longitudinal supports connected to the base and extending along a longitudinal axis, and shell components operatively connected to the longitudinal supports and defining a receiving volume adapted to receive a residual limb. The adjustable socket system is radially expandable between open and closed configurations. The shell components include a first shell component having distal and proximal parts that are longitudinally displaceable with respect to one another such that a length of the first shell component is adjustable between a first length and a second length different than the first length.
ADJUSTABLE SOCKET SYSTEM
An adjustable socket system includes a plurality of shell components and longitudinal supports connected to a base and is movable between an open configuration to loosen the fit of the adjustable socket system, and a closed configuration to secure the fit of the adjustable socket system on residual limb received therein. A tightening system includes a tensioning unit having a handle defining a moment arm rotatable about a rotation axis, and a tensioning element operatively coupled to the handle via a movable connection point and to the shell components via a control point. Rotation of the handle displace the movable connection point and the tensioning element relative to the control point to move the adjustable socket system to the closed configuration.
ABOVE THE KNEE POST-OPERATIVE RESIDUAL LIMB SUPPORT
An above-the-knee post-operative residual limb support device is described. The support device may be used shortly after amputation of a portion of a limb, such as a portion of a patient's leg (e.g., such as in an above-the knee (AK) amputation procedure). Such a support device may be referred to as an Immediate Post-Operative Prosthesis (IPOP).
Disarticulated compression socket
A disarticulated compression socket configured to secure a residual limb. The disarticulated compression socket may include a rigid socket frame having one or more compression apertures each having one or more disarticulated compression inserts. Each disarticulated compression insert may be coupled with, and responsive to, a compression actuator configured to adjust the disarticulated compression insert individually, or in concert. In one preferred embodiment, at least one compression actuator may be coupled with one, or a plurality of disarticulated compression inserts and further configured to retract and/or expand the coupled disarticulated compression inserts securing the residual limb within said socket frame. Control of the compression actuators may be manual or automatic in response to a signal from a sensor. Additional embodiments may also include one or more lateral release channels configured to accommodate soft tissue expansion of the residual limb as it is compressed and/or secured within the socket frame.
A tightening system is operatively connected to the struts and arranged to tighten and loosen the fit of the adjustable socket system on one or more areas of the residual limb.
Adjustable prosthetic interfaces and related systems and methods
Prosthesis devices can include sockets having adjustable features. In one example, a socket includes one or more panels that can move outwardly or inwardly relative to a receptacle portion of the socket. The panels can be moved by tightening a tensioning line.
