Mobile device selection of preferred content
A user of a mobile device can specify particular news, weather, traffic, or other perishable content received on a particular Internet radio station or other media channel received by the mobile device. The user can customize the station so that wherever the user is currently located, they can receive on their mobile device perishable content related to a preferred geographic location or other category. In some embodiments, a user can specify that a customized station plays local news from one city at the top of the hour, traffic from another city at 10 minutes past the hour, and music or other content at other times. The user can also customize original content from the personal libraries of specified users. Thus, a user can customize not only the genre of content or select a particular local station, but can also modify the perishable content provided by the customized station.
DIGITAL AUDIO SYSTEM
A portable digital audio system for a musician. The digital audio system includes an amplifier for processing an audio signal from a musical instrument or microphone electronically connected to the digital audio system and a speaker for playing a sound associated with the audio signal processed by the amplifier. The portable digital audio system also includes an audio control system providing operational control of the digital audio system and a primary housing for supporting the amplifier, the audio control system, and the speaker. Further, the digital audio system has a touch screen display in electronic communication with the audio control system and supported by the primary housing.
Music recommendations from trending queries
A plurality of music playlists created on a content sharing platform and having rankings are identified. A plurality of popular external search queries submitted via one or more search engine platforms external to the content sharing platform are identified. A subset of the plurality of music playlists that matches any of the plurality of popular external search queries is determined, and rankings of the determined subset of music playlists are improved. The personalized music recommendations for the user are created based on rankings of the plurality of music playlists, and the personalized music recommendations are provided for presentation to the user.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR SELECTIVE PLAYBACK AND ATTENUATION OF AUDIO BASED ON USER PREFERENCE
Systems and methods are presented for providing to filter unwanted sounds from a media asset. Voice profiles of a first character and a second character are generated based on a first voice signal and a second voice signal received from the media device during a presentation. The user provides a selection to avoid a certain sound or voice in association with the second character. During a presentation of the media asset, a second audio segment is analyzed to determine, based on the voice profile of the second character, whether the second voice signal includes the voice of a second character. If so, the second voice signal output characteristics are adjusted to reduce the sound.

Audio matching
An audio matching technique generates audio fingerprints from a captured audio signal. Coarse and Fine fingerprints are generated from the captured audio. The coarse fingerprint is used to match with a set of coarse fingerprints stored in a database to identify a subset of possibly matching database entries. The fine fingerprint is then used to perform a detailed comparison with fine fingerprints associated with the subset of possibly matching database entries in order to find a match for the captured audio signal.

GUIDANCE QUERY FOR CACHE SYSTEM
A device may be configured to determine whether an audio file is a first type of audio file that is capable of being processed to recognize the voice query based on a characteristic of the audio file itself or a second type of audio file that may require speech recognition processing in order to recognize the voice query associated with the audio file. In determining whether the audio file is a first type of audio file or a second type of audio file, a query filter associated with the device may be configured to access one or more guidance queries. Using the one or more guidance queries, the device may classify the audio file as a first type of audio file or a second type of audio file based on receiving only a portion of the audio file, thereby improving the speed at which the audio file can be processed.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING ACTIVITY IN AN AREA USING A VIDEO CAMERA AND AN AUDIO SENSOR
Identifying activity in an area even during periods of poor visibility using a video camera and an audio sensor are disclosed. The video camera is used to identify visible events of interest and the audio sensor is used to capture audio occurring temporally with the identified visible events of interest. A sound profile is determined for each of the identified visible events of interest based on sounds captured by the audio sensor during the corresponding identified visible event of interest. Then, during a time of poor visibility, a subsequent sound event is identified in a subsequent audio stream captured by the audio sensor. One or more sound characteristics of the subsequent sound event are compared with the sound profiles associated with each of the identified visible events of interest, and if there is a match, one or more matching sound profiles are filtered out from the subsequent audio stream.
