A method may comprise comparing a first data set with a second data set, the first data set associating a first plurality of names with a first plurality of roles, and the second data set associating a second plurality of names with a second plurality of roles. The method may further comprise generating a third data set based on an outcome of the comparing, such that the third data set associates a subset of the first plurality of names with a subset of the second plurality of roles. Systems and methods are described for providing a reply to a query related to a media asset. A query may be received from a user while the media asset is being played on a first device, and in response to determining that the query is related to the media asset, a snapshot of the media asset may be captured, where the snapshot comprises a depiction of a first object and a second object, and the snapshot may be generated for display at a second device. In response to determining there is ambiguity whether the query is related to the first or second object, a disambiguating query based on the first and second objects of the snapshot may be generated for simultaneous output with the snapshot. In response to receiving a reply to the disambiguating query, a response to the query may be generated for output based on the reply.

A content model data base stores past target information, which includes past first video information acquired in advance, reference IDs, which are linked with the past target information, and which correspond to contents, and three or more levels of degrees of content association between the past target information and the reference IDs. A first acquiring unit acquires the target information from a user terminal, a first evaluation unit looks up the content model database and acquires ID information, which includes the degrees of content association between the target information and the reference IDs, and an output unit outputs the contents corresponding to the ID information. After the output from the output unit, the ID information, acquired by the first evaluation unit, is stored in an ID history unit.

Systems and processes are disclosed for controlling television user interactions using a virtual assistant. In an example process, a virtual assistant can interact with a television set-top box to control content shown on a television display. Speech input for the virtual assistant can be received from a device with a microphone. The speech input can comprise a query associated with content shown on the television display. A user intent of the query can be determined based on one or more of the content shown on the television display and a viewing history of media content. A result of the query can be caused to be displayed based on the determined user intent.

A method and apparatus for performing an integrated search is provided. An interface is provided that allows users to search and select any data related to a searchable term. Searchable terms may comprise titles of content, actors, and tags. Upon receiving results from the initial search, the user progresses through the initial search by selecting a result from the initial search and conducting a further search of that selection. The search may progress through many layers of searching in order to find information useful to the user and the user may perform actions based upon results of the search. The search implements a display with two columns, the first column displaying selectable data, and the second column displaying results to the selected data. The search is further customizable based upon a privacy level selected by the user.

The present disclosure is directed to a method for determining a location of a person or object within a space. The method includes obtaining, by one or more computing device, data from one or more sensor devices associated with one or more connected devices located within the space. The method further includes generating, by the one or more computing devices, metadata indicative of presence of the person or object within the space based, at least in part, on the data. The method further includes obtaining, by the one or more computing device, data indicative of a user request associated with obtaining a location of the person or object within the space. The method further includes determining, by, the one or more computing devices, the location of the person or object based, at least in part, on the metadata.
