Limb prosthesis

A limb prosthesis including a palm, a forearm, an upper arm, an elbow joint and a wrist joint is provided. The palm has a first pivot and a first lock set. The upper arm has a socket. The elbow joint connects the forearm to the upper arm. The wrist joint includes a first connecting rod connected to the forearm. The first pivot rotatably penetrates through the first connecting rod. The first lock set is locked to the first pivot. A first wedge surface of the first lock set contacts a second wedge surface of the first connecting rod. By adjusting a distance between the first lock set and the first pivot, a magnitude of a forward force between the first wedge surface and the second wedge surface is adjusted, such that the palm is fixed relative to the first connecting rod or rotatable around an axial direction perpendicular to an extending direction of the forearm.

Biomechanical arm extension with proximity detector

An elbow harness connected to a forearm harness, the forearm harness supporting a rod driven by a power source, and a proximity detector at a distal end of the forearm harness proximate with where a hand exits the forearm harness when worn. The proximity detector is configured to trigger the power source to drive the rod from a retracted position on the forearm harness to an extended position on the forearm harness.

A lower limb prosthetic device for use when bathing and showering includes a first shell. A rod is coupled to and extends substantially perpendicularly from an upper face of the first shell. A second shell, which has a top that is open, is coupled to and extends from the rod distal from the first shell. The second shell is substantially complementary to and configured to insert a stump of an amputated leg. A plurality of bladders, which is selectively inflatable, is coupled to an inner surface of the second shell. The bladders are configured to be inflated to couple the second shell to the stump. A plurality of first holes and a plurality of second holes are positioned through the first shell and the second shell, respectively. The first holes and the second holes are configured to drain water from the first shell and the second shell, respectively.

MAGNETIC PROSTHETIC IMPLANTS AND METHODS THEREOF

Prosthetic implant devices and related methods are provided. The prosthetic implant devices include an internal component and an external component. The internal component has an implant portion associated with one or more rare earth magnets. The internal component being of a size and shape suitable for surgical implantation into the residual limb of the amputee. The one or more rare earth magnets generate at least one magnetic field. The external component having a prosthetic piston associated with a plurality of magnetic elements and a prosthetic cup associated with a magnetic array. The magnet elements of the prosthetic piston being in adaptable magnetic association with the at least one magnetic field generated by the one or more rare earth magnets.

Pre-prosthesis training device

A pre-prosthetic training device is provided. The device provides an interim prosthetic device that aids in the standing, weight bearing, and balancing exercises during post-surgery rehabilitation therapy that are required before a prosthesis fitting. The device includes a residual limb support for receiving the residual limb of an amputee, an adjustable pylon for adjusting the height of the residual limb support, and a support base including a plurality of support legs for providing support to the pylon and residual limb support. The residual limb support includes a cushion having a recessed portion sized to receive the distal end of the residual limb of an amputee and for providing comfort and stability thereto. The residual limb support further includes an upper open end and a sidewall including a tapering portion that provides vertical and lateral access, respectively, of a residual limb into the residual limb support.

DYNAMIC LINEAR ADJUSTABLE PROSTHETIC

A prosthesis with controlled linear motion and methods for adapting the device to multiple amputation points are described. The device is designed to shorten during the swing phase to prevent striking the surface of the ground, and extend at the beginning and end of the swing to provide forward propulsion and begin to transfer bodyweight load from the opposing leg. The prosthesis includes an actuator to provide linear motion, a battery, sensors, and a controller.

PROSTHETIC EXTERNAL FIXATION ASSEMBLY FOR POST-AMPUTEE AMBULATION
20180303635 · 2018-10-25 ·

A fixation assembly for attaching a prosthetic leg and foot combination directly to an external ring fixation assembly via a protective socket, and yet allow full adjustment of length and offset, protection of the residual stump when in use, and quick-disconnect of the socket when not in use. The device is meant for use with any existing external fixation ring assembly for fixation to a femur or tibia, and any prosthetic leg/foot combination. The fixation assembly generally includes a molded concave socket having a mounting base at its apex for mounting the prosthetic leg/foot, an articulating ring adjustably attached to the socket, and a plurality of struts there between.
