A foldable circuit board that includes OLED display technology is provided. Apparatus may include embedded card reading technology (e.g., EMV, magnetic stripe, QR-Reader Technology) into a foldable OLEO-based mobile device. The mobile device may fold, to create a channel for swiping a purchasing instrument. Such a device may provide portable card reading technology and an ability to seamlessly transmit the captured information to a remote server/network for authorization. Such devices may avoid use of an external plug-in device to capture payment instrument information. Also, such devices may revive use of magnetically encoded information which is typically less-expensive-to-manufacture and provides a faster swipe time to read the magnetically encoded information as compared to other technology such as EMV chips.

A removable card-enabled BPID Security Device integrates a removable card reader with a biometric authentication component to provide secured access to electronic systems. The device allows for an individual to insert a removable card into an aperture in the physical enclosure of the BPID Security Device, allowing the removable card and the BPID Security Device to electronically communicate with each other. The BPID Security Device is based on a custom application specific integrated circuit that incorporates removable card terminals, such that the BPID Security Device can communicate directly with an inserted removable card. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the BPID Security Device is based on a commercial off-the-shelf microprocessor, and may communicate with a commercial off-the-shelf microprocessor removable card receiver using a serial, USB, or other type of communication protocol. The device allows for enrolling a user's credentials onto the BPID Security Device and for authenticating an individual using the BPID Security Device.

The invention relates to a card-reading device (1), comprising a housing (2) of a card retainer (4), into which a card (5) can be inserted, and locking means (6) which prevent the card (5) from moving out of the card retainer (4) when the card (5) is inserted.

A device for reading information from a smart card of the type having a contact chip and/or a magnetic stripe. An enclosure has a top surface, a bottom surface, and at least one peripheral edge, all of which together define an enclosure internal volume therewithin. A control circuit is disposed at least partially within the enclosure internal volume and includes at least a processor, a memory, a power source, a magnetic stripe reader, a contact chip reader, a fingerprint sensor, a display screen, an LED indicator, an NFC/RFID reader, a wireless module, and optionally an interface connector. As such, information from the smart card is stored by the processor into the memory when the smart card is either swiped through a first slot or inserted into a second slot and transferred to an electronic device connected with the interface connector or wirelessly.
