Card reader and method of use thereof
A representative card reader that communicates with a host device comprises an EMV chip interfacing circuit that facilitates transmitting and receiving data to and from a Europay, Mastercard, and Visa (EMV) chipcard; and a computing device that is electrically coupled to the EMV chip interfacing circuit. The computing device receives and processes the received data from the EMV chip interfacing circuit, and transmits processed data to the EMV chipcard via the EMV chip interfacing circuit. The card reader further comprises a uni-directional interfacing circuit that establishes communications between the computing device and a host device without the need for specialized software drivers, with the simplicity for capturing the card data in a native OS system of the host device for transfer to a financial payment application, and applicable for both browser based or application based software on the host device. The uni-direction interfacing circuit communicates with the host device to transmit electrical signals associated with the processed data from the computing device.
SECURE ANTI-SKIMMER TECHNOLOGY FOR USE WITH MAGNETIC CARDS
Detecting and reporting skimming of a magnetic stripe of a magnetic instrument having a magnetic stripe. The magnetic head detector detects a reading of the magnetic stripe from the magnetic instrument and, if the reading is detected, transmits a reporting signal to a microchip indicating the magnetic stripe was read. The microchip receives the reporting signal from the magnetic head detector and transmits a buzzer signal to a microbuzzer. The microbuzzer generates an audible notification when the buzzer signal is received from the microchip. A microbattery powers the magnetic head detector, the microchip, and the microbuzzer.
Point of Sale Device With Cradle For Computing Device
A point of sale (POS) device includes a nest portion and a cradle portion. The nest portion includes one or more payment card or near field communication (NFC) readers. The cradle portion couples to differently-sized interchangeable frames, which in turn help secure a mobile computing device to the cradle portion of the POS device. The mobile computing device is connected via a connector to the rest of the POS device. Payment card information read by the readers is conveyed to the mobile computing device over the connector for processing. The POS device may also include tamper detection circuitry.
Card and host apparatus
A host apparatus, into which a card having a nonvolatile semiconductor memory is inserted, issues a check command to the card. The check command instructs to send information on whether the card supports a termination process in which the card shifts into a state ready for a stop of power supply from the host apparatus.
Card receptacle of an automated transaction machine
Disclosed is an automated transaction machine (ATM) including a card receptacle of a user interface, the card receptacle having a wall extending adjacent a main surface of the user interface, and a support extending between the main surface and the wall. The support, the wall, and the main surface of the user interface define a cavity operable to receive a transaction card. The ATM may further include an exit device of the user interface, the exit device including a container for receiving the transaction card, and a door positioned adjacent the container. The door is biasable between a first position and a second position, wherein in the first position the door substantially covers an exit opening through the main surface of the user interface, and wherein in the second position the door permits access to the container through the exit opening.
Switch spring arrangement
The invention relates to a switch spring arrangement in a card reader, comprising a contact carrier which is integrated into the card reader and includes a plurality of pockets, open on one side, for accommodating holding elements of a spring contact element, and a spring contact element that has two mounting arms to be secured in the contact carrier as well as a spring arm which can be actuated by a card and is placed between the mounting arms.
POS DEVICE
The present invention relates to a POS device, the POS device (1) having improved characteristics, largely comprising: a saving device attachment/detachment structure (100); a card reader bidirectional mounting structure (200); a display frame (300) integrally formed with an input/output port mounting portion; and a hinge-coupling structure (400).
Card reading assembly and self-service terminal equipped with the same as well as method for monitoring the same
A card reading assembly for a self-service terminal includes a storing compartment for a card containing data to be read. The self-service terminal includes at least one sensor and an evaluation device connected hereto and the card reading assembly is protected against manipulation attempts by arranging at least one sensor in the card reading assembly and at least one linearly extending sensor arrangement that is attached in the storing compartment. The evaluation device checks at least one spatial dimension of the card via the sensor arrangement. Preferably, the sensor system is a sensor arrangement including a plurality of linearly extending sensor elements that extend in a first direction or a second direction in relation to the card retracted into the storing compartment. It can be effectively determined whether a retracted card is a genuine card of if a manipulation is present that targets the inside of the card reading assembly.
Card socket for electronic device
A card socket for use in electronic devices is disclosed that can prevent the pushing of the card tray via vertical contact action of the detect terminal and switch terminal. The card socket includes a detection switch that is activated when a card tray has been inserted into the card tray insertion space of a housing in an insertion direction. The detection switch includes a detect terminal that is installed within the insertion space so that when the card tray is inserted into the insertion space the detection switch is activated. The detect terminal is configured to exert a force on the card tray in a direction that is perpendicular to the insertion direction.
Apparatus for ejecting at least one integrated circuit card
An apparatus is described. In an embodiment, the apparatus comprises a housing; a tray; an ejector; a push member having two positions, the push member is configured to receive an external force for moving the push member and to operate the ejector to eject the tray to an ejected open position when the push member is moved to a second position and to maintain in the second position; and a switch comprising two electric position; the switch is configured to switch to a first electric position when receiving the external force, and the push member is configured to maintain the switch in the first electric position when the push member is moved to the second position causing the tray to eject; when the tray is returned to a retracted closed position, the push member is moved to a first position causing the switch to switch to a second electric position.
