CARD READER AND TRANSACTION APPARATUS
20220207249 · 2022-06-30 ·

A card reader includes a front wall where an insertion slot opens, a conveyance path extending from the insertion slot toward a back side, a magnetic head configured to read information from a card conveyed along the conveyance path, a conveyance mechanism configured to convey the card inserted into the insertion slot along the conveyance path, an entry sensor configured to detect that the card has been inserted into the insertion slot, and a controller. The controller performs an insertion monitoring start instruction step to start monitoring insertion of the card by the entry sensor upon receipt of an initialization command transmitted from a higher-level device and a carry-in start instruction step to start carry-in of the card by the conveyance mechanism when the entry sensor detects the insertion of the card.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLING ACCESS TO PHYSICAL SPACE

Disclosed systems and methods relate to a smart access control reader for an access control system. According to embodiments, a method can include installing the smart access control reader to the access control system by connecting the smart access control reader to the access control system via wiring of the access control system. The method can also include receiving, by the smart access control reader, one or more first credentials for authenticating one or more users by the access control system. The method can further include determining, by the smart access control reader, that the one or more first credentials are authorized. Moreover, the method can include transmitting, by the smart access control reader, a second credential to an access control panel of the access control system, in response to a request by a first user to access an area monitored by the access control system.

Communication system using a random code as an encryption code

A communication system using a random code as an encryption code is disclosed. A first terminal transfers a request to the second terminal for providing a random code (rKey). The random code is used to encrypt commands in the proceeding communication process instead of using a master key (mKey) so as to avoid that the master key (mKey) is captured. The safety in data transmission is promoted greatly. In practical use, the encryption way can be used to a door access system which includes a mobile phone, a card reader, a door access controller, and a server program (such as ACX server program). The communication system using a random code as an encryption code assures that the communications between these devices are highly safe.

Magneto optic disk imager

A system determines the data stored on a portion of magnetic media by obtaining an image that represents the magnetic state of the portion of magnetic media using a magneto-optic image sensor. In an example, the image sensor is connected to a mechanism that moves over the portion of magnetic media, and the system takes a plurality of images which are stitched together into a composite image of the state of the portion of magnetic media. The system analyzes the image to identify regions that contain data, extracts the encoded data from the regions. The encoded data is decoded in accordance with an encoding scheme used by the portion of magnetic media. In some examples, a file structure is applied to the data and data files are recovered from the image. In various examples, the portion of magnetic media can be hard disk media, floppy disk media, or magnetic tape.

PAYMENT CARDS AND DEVICES WITH GIFT CARD, GLOBAL INTEGRATION, AND MAGNETIC STRIPE READER COMMUNICATION FUNCTIONALITY
20220172020 · 2022-06-02 ·

A payment card (e.g., credit and/or debit card) or other device (e.g., mobile telephone) is provided with a magnetic emulator operable to communicate data to a magnetic stripe read-head. Gift cards may be inputted by a user into such a payment card or other device such that a user can combine gift cards. Similarly, a user be provided with a global payment account that can be utilized in multiple countries that have different standards for formatting data. A user may be provided with a default country (e.g., United States) but may have a way to select that the user is in a different country (e.g., Japan). Accordingly, a user may select that a Japanese data structure be transmitted through a magnetic stripe reader when the user is in Japan.

System to determine portable device presence at a portal

A portable device comprises a magnetometer for detecting a magnetic field. When the portable device is at or near a portal, the portable device may detect data from the portal, such as beacon data or a connection message. Responsive to the data from the portal, the portable device operates the magnetometer to detect and characterize a magnetic field generated by the portal, such as by characterizing the magnitude, polarity, and direction of the magnetic field. The portable device generates magnetometer data to indicate the magnetic field strength detected by the magnetometer. The magnetometer data is then transmitted to the portal, along with a device identifier. The portal compares the received magnetometer data to expected magnetic field data to determine presence of the portable device at the portal. The portable device is associated with an account, providing information about entry of a user of that account entering the portal.

Automatic storage of electronic receipts across merchants and transaction cards
20230252439 · 2023-08-10 ·

The present technology pertains to storing transaction information for transactions with merchants in association with an identifier of a buyer, and transmitting an electronic receipt, including the transaction information to the buyer. The present technology includes a system and methods for associating a transaction card number with the user identifier of the buyer, such that the transaction information can be associated with the user identifier of the buyer even when the merchant does not receive the transaction card number or the user identifier of the buyer.

Systems and methods provided herein may include a card replacement system. The system may include an automated teller machine in data communication with a server. The automated teller machine may include an input device; a processor; a replacement card storage containing at least one replacement card, wherein the at least one replacement cards may include a magnetic stripe and a chip; a magnetic stripe writer; a chip writer; and an embossing device. The processor may be configured to: receive a replacement card request via the input device; request replacement card information from the server; encode replacement card information onto the replacement card using the magnetic stripe writer and the chip writer; and emboss user information onto the replacement card using the embossing device.

MARKER SYSTEM AND MAGNETIC MARKER DETECTION METHOD

In a marker system (1) which includes a plurality of magnetic markers (10) disposed on a road surface for driving assist control of a vehicle (5) including automatic traveling control and in which a wireless tag is affixed to a partial magnetic marker (10A) of the plurality of magnetic markers (10), a sign (1M) for distinguishing between a partial magnetic marker (10A) with a wireless tag affixed thereto and another magnetic marker (10B) without a wireless tag affixed thereto is provided. Thus, it is possible to associate the detected magnetic marker (10) and the wireless tag as a transmission source of tag waves with each other with high reliability.

CARD READER BASED PAYMENT TRANSACTIONS FROM A WEB BROWSER

A browser executing on a computer terminal associated with a merchant receives a payment request for a purchase by a customer from the merchant. The computer terminal transmits, over a communications network to a mobile communication device associated with the customer, a push notification including the payment request and a set of instructions. The payment request indicates an identifier and amount of the purchase. The set of instructions causes the mobile communication device to activate a card reader using a mobile payment app, present the purchase amount to the customer on a touch-sensitive display of the mobile computing device, receive an acceptance of the purchase amount from the customer via the touch-sensitive display, and authorize the card reader to process payment for the purchase amount based on the acceptance. The computer terminal receives, over the communications network, a confirmation of the processed payment from the mobile computing device.
