Some embodiments include apparatuses providing control over movement of motorized transport units at a retail facility, comprising: multiple self-propelled motorized transport units; a wireless communication network; and a central computer system, wherein the central computer system comprises: a transceiver; a control circuit; and a memory storing computer instructions that when executed cause the control circuit to: receive an override command, from a worker associated with the retail facility, to cause a first motorized transport unit of the multiple motorized transport units to implement one or more actions; confirm a valid authorization of the worker to override one or more operating limits of the first motorized transport unit; and override the one or more operating limits and communicate one or more instructions to the first motorized transport unit configured to cause the first motorized transport unit to implement the one or more actions in accordance with the override command.

System of RFID reader units transmitting synchronized modulation using asynchronous carrier waves

A UHF RFID system is disclosed in which an RFID transponder or tag can be simultaneously powered and interrogated by multiple RFID transceivers. The architecture of the system is such that each transceiver generates its own carrier wave, with a frequency that might be equal to or different from the other units, and the interrogation data is distributed throughout a network of transceivers and modulated by each transceiver unit onto their own carrier waves. During an interrogation period, one or more of the transceivers will be configured as the master unit, generating and distributing the protocols commands. The other units can be configured as transmitters, receivers or transceivers. After each period the units may be given different roles. The proposed setup yields a system with the capability to power and interrogate RFID tags with multiple readers, without compromising the required modulation depth and protocol handling.

The embodiments herein provide a secure package delivery and pick-up system. The system comprises a security door with several collapsible storage compartments for accommodating packages meant for delivery or pick-up. The size of the compartments are configured to accommodate packages of different sizes and weights. The system enables secure delivery and return pick-up of packages at unmanned location by using security measures such as electronic key generation, biometric identification, RFID, video cameras. The user is facilitated to monitor the delivery and pick-up activity remotely through a mobile application downloaded on the computing device. The system is easy to install and provides protection of the packages form theft or damages due to weather conditions. The system enables user to share secure electronic keys with other users for a predetermined duration for accessing the building through the secure door and for usage of the storage compartments.

SHOPPING FACILITY ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS, DEVICES AND METHODS

Apparatuses, components and methods are provided herein useful to provide assistance to customers and/or workers in a shopping facility. In some embodiments, a shopping facility personal assistance system comprises: a plurality of motorized transport units located in and configured to move through a shopping facility space; a plurality of user interface units, each corresponding to a respective motorized transport unit during use of the respective motorized transport unit; and a central computer system having a network interface such that the central computer system wirelessly communicates with one or both of the plurality of motorized transport units and the plurality of user interface units, wherein the central computer system is configured to control movement of the plurality of motorized transport units through the shopping facility space based at least on inputs from the plurality of user interface units.

An inventory management system includes a code reader configured to perform an ID reading, a wireless tag reader provided along with the code reader and configured to perform commodity code reading, and a processing device. The processing device, upon an ID read by the code reader for check-in being associated with a commodity replenisher, determines a number of arriving commodities having a commodity code based on a commodity code reading performed when the ID is read for check-in. When the ID is read by the code reader for checking out, the number of departing commodities having the commodity code is determined based on a commodity code reading performed for check-out. The number of replenished commodities is then determined based on a difference between the number of arriving commodities and departing commodities.
