ARM PROSTHETIC DEVICE
A prosthetic arm apparatus comprising a plurality of segments that provide a user of the prosthetic arm apparatus with substantially the same movement capability and function as a human arm. The segments are connectable to one another and connectable to a harness mount that may be adorned by the user. Each segment of the plurality of segments provides a portion of the movement capability, enabling the plurality of connected segments connected to the harness mount to provide substantially the same movement capability as that lacking in the user.
IN OR RELATING TO PROSTHETIC LIMBS
An outer frame for a prosthetic limb is provided. The outer frame is formed from one or more parts and has a plurality of air flow openings.
PROSTHETIC LIMBS
An inner liner for a prosthetic limb is provided. The liner comprises a plurality of airflow openings.
Grasp Assistance System and Method
A grasp control system assists an operator with a grasping movement task. A movement intention signal is monitored for a grasping movement muscle of the operator. A volitional operator input for the grasping movement task is identified from the movement intention signal. One or more movement motors are operated based on the volitional operator input to perform the grasping movement task as a chain of motion primitives, wherein each motion primitive is a fundamental unit of grasping motion defined along a movement path with a single degree of freedom.
Modular prosthetic devices and prosthesis systems
An adjustable prosthesis system for a residual limb includes: an adjustable outer shell having a bottom, an adjustable inner volume, and an adjustable inner shape; at least one closure component attached to the outer shell and adapted to adjust the width of the inner volume and/or inner shape; an inner liner adapted to receive the residual limb and to be inserted in the inner volume; and an adjustable connector having a proximal end adjustably connected to a distal end of the outer shell and adapted to provide concurrently for a plurality of directional adjustments and/or angular adjustments of a position of the distal end of the outer shell relative to the proximal end of the connector, a distal end of the connector adapted to connect to a prosthetic device, wherein adjustments of the width(s) and the connector provide for a custom-like fit of the prosthesis on the residual limb.
System for control of a prosthetic device
A control system for control of a prosthetic device having a plurality of actuators receives an orientation signal indicative of a desired movement. The control system evaluates whether the prosthetic device may move as desired with a current angle of rotation and commands at least one actuator to move the prosthetic device as desired by maintaining the current angle of rotation or by adjusting the angle of rotation if the prosthetic device cannot move as desired with the current angle. The control system may alternate between commanding a first subset of actuators and a second subset of actuators each time the orientation signal is indicative of a neutral position. The control system may include a position sensor and a compliance sensor and may command at least one actuator based on a combination of positional control using the position sensor and force control using the compliance sensor.
Prosthetic Arm With Adaptive Grip
An upper extremity prosthesis may include a prosthetic hand including a prosthetic thumb having a base and a tip, and a prosthetic index finger having a base and a tip. Actuators may be coupled to the upper extremity prosthesis. Prosthetic flexion tendons may have first ends operably coupled to the actuators and second ends coupled to the tips of the thumb and the index finger. Biasing systems may be operably coupled to the prosthetic thumb and the index finger. Upon actuation of the actuators in a first direction, the prosthetic flexion tendons cause the thumb and index finger to flex. Upon actuation of the linear actuators in a second direction opposite the first direction, the biasing systems cause the thumb and index finger to extend.
Arm prosthetic device
A prosthetic arm apparatus comprising a plurality of interconnected segments that provide the prosthetic arm apparatus with substantially the same movement capability and function as a human arm. The segments are connected to one another and connectable to a harness mount that may be adorned by the user. Each segment of the plurality of segments includes an actuator providing a portion of the movement capability, and each segment may operate independently of each of the other segments of the plurality of segments. One segment of the plurality of segments includes a non-backdriving clutch that transfers power from the actuator to an output interface of the segment when the actuator is actuated to generate movement of the output interface in either of two opposing directions and prevents backward transfer of power from the output interface to the actuator of the segment in both of the two opposing directions.
MUSCULAR STRENGTH ASSISTING APPARATUS
A muscular strength assisting apparatus includes a first attachment tool mounted to one of two parts of a human body, which are connected together via a joint, a second attachment tool-mounted to the other part of the human body, and a rotary member rotatably supported to the first attachment tool and connected to the second attachment tool. A force for stopping rotation or rotating with respect to the first attachment tool is exerted on the rotary member. The second attachment tool includes an attachment portion attached to the human body and a coupling portion coupling the rotary member to the attachment portion. In a plane orthogonal to a rotation axis of the rotary member and including a connection position between the attachment portion and the coupling portion, a distance between a connection position of the coupling portion to the rotary member and the connection position of the coupling portion to the attachment portion varies.
PROSTHETIC METHOD AND APPARATUS
A method of placing a prosthetic system over a residual limb, said method comprising the steps of: providing the prosthetic system; and placing an outer shell of the prosthetic system on the residual limb having an above-knee amputation, the outer shell at least partially surrounds the residual limb, an outer side and an inner side of the outer shell on opposite sides of the residual limb, an upper edge of the outer side above a greater trochanter, the inner side below a lowest edge of an ischium without being directly below the lowest edge of the ischium.
