The present invention is characterized by including: an analysis processing unit 19 that can analyze PDL data of a particular PDL; a text counter 21 that counts the number of processes of codes outside of a character-assigned range during a text process based on a character code table in the analysis by the analysis processing unit 19; and an interruption unit 23 that interrupts the analysis of the PDL data when the counted number by the text counter 21 exceeds a predetermined first threshold.

Electronic systems, such as printing systems, often use components that have a memory. The integral memory can be used to store information about the component. In some printing systems this memory includes storing a portion that stores a value indicative of an amount of a consumable that has been used. Discloses is a method and system for updating a memory that is integral to a component within a printing system. The value stored in the memory can be read to determine an amount of a consumable used. Alternatively, when a specific value is stored in the memory the printing system can deactivate the component.

A history information storage method making it possible to identify a user who gave a data transmission instruction from history information. A job processing apparatus is caused to execute a job. A generation step of generating history information, about the job in which information identifying a user included in a name of the job is set as information indicating the user who gave an instruction to execute the job, is generated in a generation step. Queries from a control device are answered based on the data actually used. In a printer, a controller builds a glyph index table in which no glyph data is registered. When it is determined that no set of glyph data corresponding to a character code selected in print data is registered in the glyph index table, the controller acquires a target set of glyph data from the font information in a memory. The target set of glyph data corresponds to the character code. The controller registers the target set of glyph data in the glyph index table. When it is determined that the set of glyph data corresponding to the character code is registered in the glyph index table, the controller acquires the target set of glyph data from the glyph index table. The controller generates raster data from the print data using the target set of glyph data, and perform a printing process to print an image based on the raster data.

An information processing apparatus calculates use frequency of the character of a same font name and a same font size, with respect to a plurality of characters in a text document, generates print data, including priority information indicating priority of each character in order of the use frequency, and the text document, and transmits the print data to an image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus determines a character to be drawn, upon receipt of the print data, generates a font cache of the character to be drawn and stores the font cache in a region in the font cache storage region corresponding to the priority of the character to be drawn, when the font cache storage region has a vacant capacity, and deletes the font cache of a character lowest in priority, from the font cache storage region, when the font cache storage region is without vacant capacity.

An image forming apparatus includes a character drawer and a storage device. The character drawer creates a graphic image of a character contained in print data. The storage device stores the graphic image created by the character drawer. When the graphic image of the character is absent in the storage device, the character drawer creates a graphic image of the character and allows the created graphic image to be stored in the storage device.
