An image forming apparatus of the present invention includes a human detection unit configured to detect a human, an operation unit including a display device configured to display an operation screen, a touch panel configured to detect a touch operation of the operation screen, a control unit configured to return the operation unit from a first power state in which the display device does not display the operation screen to a second power state in which the display device displays the operation screen based on a detection result of the human detection unit, and an invalidation unit configured to invalidate a touch operation of the operation screen for a predetermined period after the returning starts.

In a client machine that collects first data that is operation information of an apparatus and second data related to a use situation of a plurality of pieces of hardware including a processor, a memory, and a storage, control is performed so that, in a case where the client machine is in a power-saving state at a timing when data that is collected in the apparatus is transmitted to an external system, recovery from the power-saving state is performed and transmission of the first data is not restricted, and transmission of the second data is restricted, and in a case where the client machine is not in the power-saving state at the timing, the transmission of the first data and the transmission of the second data are not restricted.

The controller selects a first mode, a second mode, or a third mode as a power supply mode. In the first mode, electric power is supplied from the power source to the image-data processor and the interface. In the second mode, supply of the electric power from the power source to the image-data processor and the interface is in a stopped state. An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit configured to form an image on a sheet based on image data, a control unit configured to control driving of the image forming unit, and a power supply unit configured to, if a factor for shifting from a power saving state to a standby state is detected, supply power to the image forming unit and the control unit. If a first type of factor is detected as the factor in the power saving state, the power supply unit supplies power to the control unit and the image forming unit, and the control unit restricts the driving of the image forming unit. If an instruction to perform a function of forming an image on a sheet is accepted, the control unit cancels restriction of the driving of the image forming unit.

According to one embodiment, an image forming apparatus includes a printer unit, a first controller, a power supply unit, and a second controller. The printer unit forms an image on a sheet. The first controller performs a control of shifting a state of the apparatus from a normal mode to a power saving mode. The power supply unit supplies power to the first controller and the printer unit in the normal mode and supplies power to the first controller and stops power supply to the printer unit in the power saving mode. The second controller performs a power supply control on the printer unit before performing a power supply control on the first controller when a packet received in the power saving mode includes specific information indicating a print job.
