PUMP SYSTEM
A prosthetic system includes first and second parts rotatable relative to one another about a joint. The first and second parts are adapted to form at least part of a weight bearing connection between a prosthetic foot and a socket. A pump system includes a pump mechanism operatively connected to the first and second parts. Rotation of the first part and/or the second part about the joint moves the pump mechanism between an original configuration in which the volume of a fluid chamber defined by the pump mechanism is zero or near-zero, and an expanded configuration in which the volume of the fluid chamber is increased.
Vacuum pump systems for prosthetic limbs and methods of using the same
Pump systems for use in suspension of a prosthetic device from a residual limb and methods of suspending a prosthetic device from a residual limb are disclosed. The pump systems include a mechanically activated pump having a first compression member coupled to a second compression member, a compressible bladder disposed between the first and second compression members, and coupling elements that engage and couple together the first and second compression members. The mechanically activated pump may be connected with an electrically activated pump within a fluid circuit of a hybrid pump system to provide vacuum engagement between a prosthetic device and a residual limb.
METHOD FOR OPERATING AN ORTHOPEDIC DEVICE AND CORRESPONDING ORTHOPEDIC DEVICE
The invention relates to a method for operating an orthopedic device which supports or replaces a first body part of a wearer and has at least one controllable actuator, wherein the method includes a) determining a chronological profile of at least one parameter, which allows for a conclusion to be made regarding a movement status of the wearer, from measurement values of at least one sensor; b) detecting the movement status from the at least one determined chronological profile; and c) controlling the at least one controllable actuator depending on the identified movement status, wherein at least the chronological profile of at least one parameter of a second body part of the wearer is also used to identify the movement status.
Frame module and motion assistance apparatus including the same
A frame module includes a frame configured to enclose a portion of a user, and at least one reinforcement belt of which both end portions are connected to both sides of the frame, thereby restricting a splaying level of the frame in a predetermined direction.
ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING TECHNIQUES FOR ORTHOTICS
An orthotic device for a patient's foot includes a shell that is configured to structurally support the patient's foot. The shell has a variable thickness along a dimension of the shell. The shell is configured to undergo flexion throughout the shell. The variable thickness of the shell targets areas of increased stress.
SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR PERCUTANEOUS MECHANICAL AND/OR NEURAL INTERFACE
A system for attachment of a device to a bone is provided. The system includes an internal axial rod with a proximal and distal end that is configured to be inserted and secured into a bone cavity’s distal end. The system can also include an internal-external transfer rod with a proximal and distal end mounted into the distal end of the axial rod and a central channel extending through the transfer rod from the proximal end to the distal end and a plurality of attachment rings for attaching at least one tissue or muscle group to the transfer rod. The system also includes a bio-compatible and bio-occlusive artificial membranes (BIOCAMS) lamina, wherein the lamina includes either a polyetheretherketone (PEEK) mesh, a biocompatible polymer, a carbon fiber polymer, an artificial tissue polymer, molded donor tissue, allogenic tissue, a collagen/hyaluronic acid-based tissue, or connective tissue biosynthetic substrate material suitable as webbing.
Sensing Strategies For Health Assessment Of Osseointegrated Prostheses
A method and an osseointegrated prosthesis system having an osseointegrated prosthesis member are provided having a monitoring system operably coupled to the osseointegrated prosthesis member configured to quantitatively assess the osseointegration of the osseointegrated prosthesis member, a wave-generating element coupled to the osseointegrated prosthesis member and configured to output guided waves along the osseointegrated prosthesis member interrogating an interface between bone and the osseointegrated prosthesis member, and a sensing system configured to sense a condition of the interface between bone and the prosthesis.
A FLEXIBLE MULTI USE POST OPERATIVE PROSTHETIC SOCKET SYSTEM
A prosthetic apparatus and system for a trans-tibial amputee consisting of a post-operative interface socket that can be adjusted to accommodate the size of an amputated limb and changes in size of the limb. The prosthetic apparatus includes a lower socket into which the post-operative socket can be inserted, the lower socket being adjustable for changes in size of the post-operative interface socket. The post-operative socket also has a removable upper back shell that immobilizes movement of the knee during an initial recovery phase but can be removed to allow the knee of the amputee to flex.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONSTRUCTING A PROSTHESIS
The invention relates to a method for carrying out a prosthesis set-up, wherein multiple components are arranged close to each other, the method comprising the a) providing at least one marking on each of the at least one components, b) arranging various components close to each other, c) detecting a position and/or an orientation of the at least one marking of the closely arranged components by means of at least one optical sensor, d) determining the actual position and/or the actual orientation of the closely arranged components relative to one another using the detected position and/or orientation of the at least one marking, and e) comparing the determined actual position and/or actual orientation with a target position and/or target orientation.
Adjustable socket system
An adjustable socket system includes first and second shell components and first and second longitudinal supports connected to a base. The socket system is movable between an open configuration to loosen the fit of the socket system, and a closed configuration to secure the fit of the socket system on residual limb received therein. A tightening system includes a tensioning unit having a handle defining a moment arm rotatable about a rotation axis, and a tensioning element operatively coupled to the handle via a movable connection point located and protected between the first shell component and the first support and to the shell components via a control point. Rotation of the handle displaces the movable connection point and the tensioning element relative to the control point to move the socket system to the closed configuration.
