MECHANICAL JOINT WITH SWITCHABLE, ROTATION-CONSTRAINING CLUTCH
20180303636 · 2018-10-25 ·

The current document is directed to a two-way, by-passable, overrunning clutch incorporated within a mechanical prosthetic knee that provides functionality similar to a biological knee or incorporated in another articulated device, such as a robotic or orthotic articulated device or member. The currently disclosed two-way, by-passable, overrunning clutch allows for two-way free rotation when disabled, but, when enabled, prevents rotation in one direction while allowing free rotation in the other direction. In the mechanical prosthetic knee, the two-way, by-passable, overrunning clutch is enabled by application of a mechanical force and disabled by removal of the mechanical force.

MODULAR LOWER LIMB PROSTHESIS SYSTEM

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR RESIDUAL LIMBS OF AMPUTEES

Various aspects of this disclosure relate to a prosthetic cover comprising an array of sensors, which transmit signals to an array of electrodes in a liner that fits over a residual limb of an amputee. Different interactions with the prosthetic cover cause different activation of the electrodes to transmit electrical current through different areas of the residual limb and modulate neurons differently within the residual limb. Various aspects of this disclosure also relate to a prosthetic liner with a substrate that includes electrodes for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation and/or electronic muscle stimulation for a residual limb.

Some embodiments are directed to a lower limb articulation for bipedal locomotion, which includes a first element a second element and articulation devices for articulating the first and second elements relative to one another, the articulation devices including an articulation mechanism including first and second linking devices mounted in series, as well as devices for guiding and locking in position one of the first and second elements relative to the other one of the first and second elements when the lower limb comes to rest on a surface, the devices for locking in position including a potential trough.

SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR PERCUTANEOUS MECHANICAL AND/OR NEURAL INTERFACE
20180078757 · 2018-03-22 ·

A system and method for improving limb function through the use of percutaneous mechanical and neural interfaces. The system generally uses a hollow long bone axial rod that is inserted into the long bone medullary cavity. A transfer rod with a central channel is mounted to the long bone axial rod. An exterior body attachment is connected to the transfer rod and attachment rings attach muscle groups, fascia layers and dermal layers to the transfer rod. Additionally, the system is configured to collect and transmit nerve signaling data to an external processor and additionally configured to transmit data from the external processor to the plurality of nerves.

PUMP SYSTEM
20180055659 · 2018-03-01 ·

A prosthetic system includes first and second parts rotatable relative to one another about a joint. The first and second parts are adapted to form at least part of a weight bearing connection between a prosthetic foot and a socket. A pump system includes a pump mechanism operatively connected to the first and second parts. Rotation of the first part and/or the second part about the joint moves the pump mechanism between an original configuration in which the volume of a fluid chamber defined by the pump mechanism is zero or near-zero, and an expanded configuration in which the volume of the fluid chamber is increased.

Above-knee prosthesis

A technology for a prosthetic above-knee device is provided. A socket may be used to attach the device to a residual limb, and may have a rigid body coupled to the socket. The device may include a first link with a first link end coupled through the rigid body to the socket and a second link end coupled to the rigid body. The second link of the device may have a third link end attached to the rigid body, and a fourth link end coupled to a housing. The device may include a hydraulic cylinder with a piston and a hydraulic cylinder link coupled between the rigid body and the piston of the hydraulic cylinder. The stability adjustment nut may adjust a travel distance of the hydraulic cylinder link with respect to the hydraulic cylinder to provide an adjustment of an instant center for stability modification.
