A registration and verification process for the subscription service can be provided as a multi-step process that combines the smart parking meter with a QR code, a mobile parking app for a smartphone, a central parking management system, and digital images of the parked vehicle(s). The registration process verifies that only vehicles owned by the subscriber are associated with the subscriber's account. Steps can also be employed to ensure that subscribers are not incorrectly issued parking citations by determining whether license plate data for a vehicle initially determined to be in violation matches an active subscription parker's roster of registered vehicles.

The disclosure is directed to use of digital keys in providing access to secured locations, goods and resources as well as other assets. The access may be fee based with the disclosure further directed to including fee payment authorization into the access process. Electronic locks may be employed within modules to faciltiate the access. The digital keys may be accompanied with commands for the electronic locks and/or modules accomodating them to execute in the course of providing the access. The digital keys may be shared, limited to single or multiple use and may be lock agnostic. The commands may be sent from a smart mobile device and be digitally signed for subsequent attestation by the lock for authenticity verification. The digital keys may be generated and otherwise handled under one of a series of escalating security encryption methods typically used and reserved for financial transactions.

Systems and methods are disclosed for providing a subscription-based travel service that includes one or more processors that perform operations comprising: receiving, by a subscription-based travel service, search criteria comprising a travel period for a user; determining that a subscription of the user with the subscription-based travel service corresponds to a first travel service rate category; identifying, based on the search criteria, a list of travel services associated with the first travel service rate category that are available for consumption during the travel period; presenting the identified list of travel services to the user; and reserving a given travel service of the travel services on the list in response to receiving a selection of the given travel service.

Apparatuses, methods, systems, and program products are disclosed for modifying the enabled features of a hardware component at the time of use. An apparatus includes a processor and memory that stores code executable by the processor. The code is executable by the processor to obtain a feature of the hardware component that is not enabled and generates an encrypted code associated with the feature of the hardware component to be enabled. The apparatus processes a payment for the cost of enabling the hardware component and enables the feature of the hardware component in response to the association of the payment processed with the encrypted code for the feature of the hardware component.

Provided is a control method of controlling locking or unlocking of storage using a blockchain. The control method includes: determining, when first request information indicating a lock/unlock request, that is a lock request or an unlock request, is received from a terminal, whether a keyholder identified by reading keyholder information stored in the blockchain matches an owner of the terminal that has transmitted the first request information, the keyholder information indicating a person having the authority to lock or unlock the storage; performing lock/unlock processing when the keyholder is determined to match the owner, the lock/unlock processing being processing for causing the storage to lock or unlock in accordance with the first request information; and performing first storage processing after the lock/unlock processing is performed, the first storage processing being processing of storing, in the blockchain, transaction data indicating that the lock/unlock processing has been performed.
