Point of sale device power management and undervoltage protection
A point-of-sale (POS) device includes a processor, a battery, a transaction object reader, a printer with a printer controller, and optionally a temperature sensor. The processor determines a present power discharge capability rate of the battery, optionally based on a temperature measured by the temperature sensor. The processor also calculates a first estimated power draw rate based on a first setting value for at least one of the components of the POS device, such as the printer. If the first estimated power draw rate is dangerously close to the present power discharge capability rate of the battery, a second estimated power draw rate is calculated based on a second setting value for the one or more components. If the second estimated power draw rate is no longer dangerously close to the present power discharge capability rate of the battery, the components are set to the second settings value.
Point-of-sale system and method
A point-of-sale (POS) system and a data analytic platform provides receipt modification. The POS system has a receipt monitor intercepting receipt data from a POS till. The receipt monitor modifies the receipt data to produce modified receipt data and the receipt monitor transmits the modified receipt data to a receipt printer. A data processing server may receive the receipt from the receipt monitor. The server structures the receipt data, extracts one or more attributes, and may provide modified receipt data to the receipt monitor.
CLIENT-SIDE USE OF CUSTOMER PREFERENCES
In one aspect, a method includes monitoring, at a processing component, online activities associated with a first account of a first user to identify first user preferences; monitoring, at the processing component, online activities associated with a second account of a second user to identify second user preferences; storing the first user preferences and the second user preferences in association with the first account and the second account at the processing component, respectively; customizing one or more product offerings to be offered to at least one third user associated with the second account based on the first user preferences and the second user preferences; and presenting the one or more product offerings to the at least one third user on a respective device of the at least one third user.
Computer program product for prioritizing order fulfillment at a retail sales facility based on anticipated customer arrival times
A computer program product for prioritizing order fulfillment at a retail sales facility, including the steps of: a) receiving purchase request information at a retail sales computing device that includes identifying information and order information for the first customer, b) receiving location information for the first customer, c) processing the received location information for the first customer together with location information of the retail sales facility to predict an estimated time of arrival (ETA) for the first customer at the retail sales facility, d) scheduling a time interval for acquiring updated location information for the first customer, and e) placing the identifying information, order information and ETA for the first customer in an order fulfillment queue for all current customers. Entries in the order fulfillment queue are ordered in increasing ETA order, whereby order fulfillment activities can proceed according to the order of order requests in the order fulfillment queue. ETA is continuously updated for each customer, and thereby the order for fulfilling customer orders in the order fulfillment queue. For example, if a customer's distance from the retail sales facility increases (for example, due to a mistaken turn), that customer's order will drop to a later-served position in the queue. The location information for the first customer includes GPS-based location information of the first customer that is captured by a GPS device associated with a mobile computing device of the first customer. The location information for the retail sales facility includes GPS-based location information of the retail sales facility. The ETA prediction is performed using the GPS-based location information of the first customer and the GPS-based location information of the retail sales facility.
Payment terminal operation method and system therefor
A method of payment terminal operation, including: receiving a payment collection request for a payment from an application, generating a payment initiation request for the payment, sending the payment initiation request to a secure processing system, switching the secure processing system from operation in an unsecured mode to operation in a secured mode in response to receipt of the payment initiation request, facilitating payment information entry, and receiving a payment response notification, generated based on the payment information, at the main processor.
FRICTIONLESS PAYMENT SYSTEM
Disclosed are various embodiments for frictionless payment. A computing device obtains a document with native format transaction data from a merchant device, and determines a bill based at least in part on the native format transaction data and a trained predictive model. The computing device determines payment methods available for payment of the bill via a client device. The computing device generates a network page that can cause payment of the bill to be initiated by one of the payment methods that is unassociated with a user providing payment card information or personal information to the merchant, and transmit an indication to the merchant device that the bill was paid.
RULES ENGINE FOR COMMUNICATION ROUND TRIPS OPTIMIZATION OF KERNEL-IN-CLOUD PAYMENT TRANSACTION
A thin client may be utilized to facilitate data exchanges between two devices (e.g., a remote computer and a portable device). In some embodiments, the two devices may utilize differing communications protocols. The thin client may further be configured with a rules engine that determines one or more actions to be performed in response to one or more stimuli. The thin client may manage the processing flow between the two devices according to one or more predefined rules that are interpretable by the rules engine. The rules may be pushed to the thin client via any suitable device enabling the functionality of the thin client to be configured and/or modified without having to update the hardware and/or software of the thin client.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING POTENTIAL SHRINK EVENTS VIA RFID TECHNOLOGY
Systems and methods for detecting potential shrink events via RFID technology are provided. The systems include a point of sale (POS) system that includes an optical scanner, an RFID transceiver arrangement, a user interface and a controller. The controller is configured to perform example methods disclosed herein. For example, the controller may detect that the optical scanner has decoded a barcode, trigger the RFID transceiver arrangement to write a data string to an RFID tag located within the object scanning area, conduct a detection operation to detect the RFID tag with the data string in the bagging area. Responsive to detecting the RFID tag with the data string, the method involves the user interface performing a first operation. Responsive to not detecting the RFID tag with the data string, the method involves the user interface performing a second operation.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PAYMENT PROCESSING TELEMETRY
A computer-implemented system and method of tracking telemetry data at a financial computing system is presented. The system and method includes receiving an electronic message that includes a payment transaction originating from a payment terminal, and associating a unique transaction identifier to the payment transaction. Telemetry data for the payment transaction is received from payment processing applications through a telemetry interface and aggregated into a data store. The aggregated telemetry data associated with the unique identifier is presented on a user interface by the financial computing system.
METHOD OF ISSUING ELECTRONIC RECEIPTS
Provided is a method of issuing an electronic receipt, which enables a user to conveniently check an electronic receipt through a smartphone. The method of issuing an electronic receipt includes receiving, by an electronic receipt generator, information regarding a transaction from a point of sale (POS) terminal, generating an address corresponding to the information, and storing transaction information in a server corresponding to the address; transmitting the generated address to a user device through a near-field wireless communication technology; and displaying, by the user device, an electronic receipt through the transmitted address.
