Methods for locating an antenna within an electronic device

A method of determining a proximity of an antenna located in a payment instrument to an antenna located within an electronic device may include receiving, at the antenna located within the electronic device, a first signal from the antenna located in the payment instrument, the first signal received at a first time, receiving, at the antenna located within an electronic device, a second signal from the antenna located in the payment instrument, the second signal received at a second time, the second time being later than the first time, determining a difference in a signal strength between the first and second signals, and displaying, on a display of the electronic device, an indication based on the determination.

Adapter for providing unified transaction interface

Embodiments of the invention are directed to enabling access transaction systems to accept different communication protocols. In some embodiment, an access device receives, from a portable device, an indication that a transaction is to be performed by exchanging transaction information between the portable device and a remote computer, wherein the remote computer is configured to communicate using a first communication protocol. Next, the access device determines that the portable device is configured to communicate using a second communication protocol. The access device then converts communications between the portable device and the remote computer from the second communication protocol to the first communication protocol to assist the portable device and the remote computer in exchanging the transaction information.

A method for an RVM system and an RVM system configured to implement the method. The method includes the steps of: receiving a set of used containers from a user through an infeed; initiating a new collection session and establishing a Session ID; initiating a transfer of the Session ID to a user via physical or digital means after the new collection session has been initiated; establishing a resulting return value for the set of used containers; linking the resulting return value to the Session ID, where the initiating of a transfer of the Session ID to a user is performed before the step of linking the resulting return value to the Session ID.

To provide a payment-purpose user terminal, a payment system, and a computer program executed at the terminal and the system, which improve convenience for a customer (user) at checkout (in particular, duration of money amount inputting of products). A payment-purpose user terminal capable of communicating payment information with a cash register terminal that is connectable to a server includes: an operation input device configured to receive an operation input by a user; a user communication device configured to communicate with the server or the cash register terminal; and a user control device configured to control the operation input device and the user communication device, and the user control device receives selection of a payment method through the operation input device in duration of money amount inputting of products at the cash register terminal.

Methods and devices for conducting payment transactions

Methods and devices for of conducting a payment transaction between a mobile terminal and a payment terminal in communication with a payment backend system involve: (a) sending a unique mobile terminal identifier from the mobile terminal to the payment backend system; (b) returning a cryptogram from the payment backend system to the mobile terminal, wherein the cryptogram comprises a unique transaction identifier in encrypted form; (c) transforming the cryptogram into a proximity payment token such that the proximity payment token contains the unique transaction identifier in encrypted form and transmitting the proximity payment token to the payment terminal via a proximity communication channel; (d) forwarding a transaction record including the unique transaction identifier in encrypted form and the amount of the payment transaction from the payment terminal to the payment backend system; and (e) decrypting the unique transaction data identifier in encrypted form and processing the payment transaction.

Method and system for performing mobile device-to-machine payments

A device with one or more processors, memory, and two or more communication capabilities obtains, from a payment module, an authorization request via a first communication capability (e.g., Bluetooth). The device sends, to a server, the authorization request via a second communication capability distinct from the first communication capability (e.g., cellular or WiFi technology). In response to sending the authorization request, the device obtains, from the server, authorization information via the second communication capability. After obtaining the authorization information, the device detects a trigger condition to perform a transaction with a payment accepting unit associated with the payment module. In response to detecting the trigger condition, the device sends, to the payment module, at least a portion of the authorization information via the first communication capability.

Computerized method, communication system and computer programs for efficient handling of mobile commerce

A computerized method (200) of performing a purchase and an associated communication system are disclosed. A customer mobile computing device (CMCD) communicates (210) with a server computing device (SCD) to generate an order for the purchase. The server computing device (SCD) communicates (220) with a payment processor computing device (PPCD) to perform a first part of a payment transaction for the purchase, wherein the first part of the payment transaction involves reserving funds for the purchase. A merchant computing device (MCD) performs (230) a digital handshake procedure with the customer mobile computing device (CMCD). The digital handshake procedure involves short-range wireless data communication to verify spatial proximity between the customer mobile computing device (CMCD) and the merchant computing device (MCD). When spatial proximity has been verified, the merchant computing device (MCD) communicates (240) with the server computing device (SCD) to accept the order. The server computing device (SCD) communicates (250) with the payment processor computing device (PPCD) to perform a second part of the payment transaction, wherein the second part of the payment transaction involves capturing funds for the purchase.

Point of interest data creation for use with location-aware mobile devices

Interacting between users of mobile devices is provided by initiating a desired interaction at a first user device using a gesture sensed by the first user device, determining a gesture area, submitting a desired interaction request for interaction with associated users within the gesture area, and sending a notification to user devices indicating the desired interaction of the first user with one or more users of a local subset, wherein the notification identifies the first user with an identifier independent of identifiers used by the first user outside of interactions with a remote server.
