The processor is configured to set the first attribute of the payment applet to indicate that authentication is required to utilize the payment applet when another payment applet for the service provider provisioned on the secure element of the device has an attribute that indicates the other payment applet can be utilized for the transaction without user authentication. The at least one processor is configured to control whether the user authentication is requested when utilizing the payment applet or the other payment applet, respectively, in transactions.

The method comprises generating payment request data associated with a benefactor on a payer application; the payment request data comprises redeemable payment data associated with a predetermined beneficiary which is valid for a predetermined time period. The payment request data is forwarded from the payer application to a payment server. The payment server initates a payment transaction from a source account associated with the benefactor to a predetermined account in response to receiving the payment request data. The payment transaction is refunded to the source account from the predetermined account if the beneficiary fails to validate the redeemable payment data within the predetermined time period.

A method of manufacturing an electromechanical locker system may include providing a set of lockers with coin-operated locks. The coin-operated locks may be removed from the set of lockers. A conduit may be extended along and connected to a frame member from which the coin-operated locks had previously been positioned. Electromechanical lock units may be attached to the conduit so as to replace the coin-operated locks. A retrofitted coin-operated locker bank may include a coin-operated locker bank including a multiple lockers having respective doors, where the coin-operated locker bank is free of coin-operated locks. A conduit may be connected to a frame member and extend vertically adjacent to the hinged doors of a column of lockers. Multiple electromechanical lock units may be attached to the conduit so as to replace the coin-operated locks.

A fuel authorization system enables data to be exchanged between vehicles and a gated facility, to verify that the vehicle is authorized to enter the facility. The gated facility is equipped with a camera and a short-range radio (RF) component. Participating vehicles are equipped with fuel authorization component including a RF component that can establish a data link with the gated facility's RF unit. When the camera senses a vehicle in the fuel lane, an RF query is sent to the vehicle. Participating vehicles respond with an action perceivable by the camera. An RF data link is then established between the enrolled vehicle and the gated facility to verify that the vehicle is authorized to receive fuel. Once the verification is complete, the fuel dispenser is enabled.
