The value of a first gift card from a first issuer of a first digital payment account is exchanged with the value of a second gift card from a second issuer of a second digital payment account.

Multiple electromechanical lock units may be attached to the conduit so as to replace the coin-operated locks.

The central processor is programmed for managing the activation and issuance of transactions and activities for the stored-value card through the respective unaffiliated networks. The universal central processor is programmed to issue the stored-value cards directly to the cardholder or card purchaser by download over respective communication gateways. The universal central processor is further programmed for reporting the card activations, issuances, transactions and activities to the cardholders and the merchants thereby providing a universal management system.

A determination as to whether the cardholder timely paid the bill. If the cardholder timely paid the bill, then the payment may be recorded as being timely paid. Otherwise, a recording may be made that the bill was not timely paid. A reporting as to the timeliness of the payment may be made to affect a credit score of the cardholder.

The computing device can be configured to recognize codes, such as digit claim codes, of the gift card by using one or more image processing, computer vision, and/or machine learning algorithms. After a successful detection and verification of a claim code, money or funds deposited in, or otherwise available from, an account associated with the gift card can be utilized, such as applied to a purchase or deposited into the user's account. In many instances, a user interface (UI) can be provided on the computing device for the user to use to capture an image of a gift card and redeem the funds from the corresponding card.
