SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AN ARTICULATING ANKLE
A hydraulic ankle assembly to be used by a user, wherein the ankle assembly includes a base configured to be attached to a spring assembly, a hydraulic cylinder rotatably attached to the base and configured to dampen rotation of the hydraulic ankle assembly, and a prosthetic adapter portion rotatably attached to the base and the hydraulic cylinder and configured to be attached to a prosthetic worn by the user. The base, the hydraulic cylinder, and the prosthetic adapter portion define a force triangle that defines an axis of rotation of the hydraulic ankle assembly. The axis of rotation is positioned in line with the center of mass of the user when the user is standing. The force triangle reduces forces on the hydraulic cylinder.
Anti-back drive device
A rotary drive member drives a driven member. A ring surrounding the driven member has two cam recesses containing lock members between cam surfaces of cam recesses and the ring. Each recess accommodates an associated lock member at different locations where the recess is shallower. Driving the driven member is permitted in a given rotation relative to the ring, but each lock member inhibits rotation of the driven member in the opposite sense. The recesses extend in opposite directions. Coupling between the driven members is free-play whereby reversal in the rotation disengages members and reengages. Protuberances extending into cam recesses retain a lock member associated with one recess at the deeper location permitting movement of the other lock member towards the shallower location. Upon reversal of the rotation, the protuberances retain another lock member at the deeper location permitting movement of one lock member.
Anti-back drive device
A rotary drive member drives a driven member. A ring surrounding the driven member has two cam recesses containing lock members between cam surfaces of cam recesses and the ring. Each recess accommodates an associated lock member at different locations where the recess is shallower. Driving the driven member is permitted in a given rotation relative to the ring, but each lock member inhibits rotation of the driven member in the opposite sense. The recesses extend in opposite directions. Coupling between the driven members is free-play whereby reversal in the rotation disengages members and reengages. Protuberances extending into cam recesses retain a lock member associated with one recess at the deeper location permitting movement of the other lock member towards the shallower location. Upon reversal of the rotation, the protuberances retain another lock member at the deeper location permitting movement of one lock member.
BIOMEDICAL FINGER ASSEMBLY FOR USE WITH CAPACITIVE PANELS
A prosthetic digit usable with capacitive panels is provided. The digit includes at least one conductive layer surrounding the body of the digit, and a non-conductive sealing layer around the conductive layer preventing direct external contact of the conductive layer with the capacitive panel. The digit may have a conductive tip pad to create a series capacitive pathway between the conductive layer of the body and the electrodes of the capacitive panel. Using the digit with a capacitive panel does not require a direct conductive pathway, e.g., a pathway between the capacitive panel and the structure of the device, the user's skin, or metallic sink.

A system including a power source, one or more stimulating devices for stimulating the visual cortex of a user to present a perceived virtual image responsive to the stimulating, one or more sensing devices for sensing electrical signals in the motor and/or pre-motor cortex of the user and a processor/controller connected to the stimulating and sensing devices and programmed to sense signals from the motor and/or pre-motor cortex of the user. The sensed signals result from the user performing a movement and/or intending to perform a movement and/or imagining the performing of a movement and are used to interact with the presented virtual image. The processor/controller processes the sensed signals to obtain computed data indicative of a user's interaction with the virtual image, and performs a general computing task responsive to the computed data.

Systems and methods for controlling an orthopedic joint device of a lower extremity, the orthopedic joint device comprising an upper part, a lower part mounted in articulated fashion to the upper part, and a conversion device arranged between the upper and lower parts. The conversion device provides for, during pivoting of the upper part relative to the lower part, mechanical work from a relative movement between the upper and lower parts to be converted and stored in at least one energy store and supplied back to the joint device with a time offset in order to assist the relative movement. The stored energy is converted back and the supply of mechanical work takes place in a controlled manner during the assistance of the relative movement.
Orthopedic joint device and method for controlling same
Systems and methods for controlling an orthopedic joint device of a lower extremity, the orthopedic joint device comprising an upper part, a lower part mounted in articulated fashion to the upper part, and a conversion device arranged between the upper and lower parts.
