A recycling kiosk for recycling and financial remuneration for submission of a mobile telephone is disclosed herein. The recycling kiosk includes an inspection area with a plurality of white walls in order to perform a visual analysis of the mobile telephone for determination of a value of the mobile telephone. The visual analysis inspects the LCD screen of the mobile phone to determine if the LCD screen is damaged. The recycling kiosk also includes a processor, a display and a user interface.

One variation of a method for dynamically pricing vended products includes: identifying a purchase pattern of a user at a vending machine; in response to an approaching sell-by date for a unit of a product loaded into the vending machine and based on the purchase pattern, setting a discount rate for the unit of the product for the user; transmitting an electronic communication to an account associated with the user, the electronic communication indicating the discount rate for the unit of the product; identifying the user in a transaction initiated at the vending machine; and in response to selection of the unit of the product from the vending machine during the transaction, initiating a payment with a payment mechanism supplied by the user according to the discount rate.

The gift card management server, through the kiosk processor interface, provides vendor options to users to select and pay via the card reader. The kiosk may be used to redeem unused user gift cards for a reduced value user selected gift card, reduced cash value, full value store card, rewards points, bank debit, and/or an electronic code (eCode) towards online user purchases.

A store exiting management system comprising a store exiting information acquisition unit, a specification unit, and a granting unit. The store exiting information acquisition unit acquires store exiting information from a terminal device after payment for products registered by customer operations on the terminal device has been completed. The specification unit specifies an incentive corresponding to the acquired store exiting information. The granting unit grants the customer the specified incentive.

Disclosed herein are multispace parking pay stations comprising: at least one processor, a memory, a communications element, a printer, and a computer program including instructions executable by the at least one processor to create an application comprising: a software module receiving a unique identifier associated with a parking customer, the parking customer having executed a mobile payment for parking in a space associated with the pay station; a software module transmitting the unique identifier to a central parking management server and querying the central parking management server with the unique identifier to identify the parking customer and verify the mobile payment; and a software module generating and sending instructions to the printer to print a payment verification for the parking customer.

An article vending machine in a network of article vending machines capable of exchanging an inoperable rental article received from a user for an operable replacement article. The article dispensing machine checks customer identification information against one or more customer rental criteria to determine if the customer is eligible to exchange an inoperable article for an operable one. The article vending machine searches for an identical replacement article within an inventory of the machine itself and within inventories of the networked article vending machines. Alternatively, the article vending machine may provide a refund for the inoperable article.

Systems and methods are described herein for incentivizing consumers to recycle their accumulated change at consumer-operated coin counting kiosks. In various embodiments, the methods can include providing users with a plurality of deals on, e.g., leisure time activities and other rewarding goods and services that they can purchase at the coin counting kiosks in return for loose coins. The systems can include a software application, e.g., a mobile application that can be used to obtain user deal preferences and periodically provide users with deal offers that match their preferences and/or the amount of coin value they may have available to put toward a purchase. Other embodiments of the disclosed technology enable multiple users to purchase deals (e.g., group activities) as a group by making individual contributions toward the purchase price via a network of coin counting kiosks.

For each product category offered by an on-line retailer, the most popular or biggest selling products are identified. The on-line retailer competes with a bricks-and-mortar store in the sale of the identified products. A dedicated area is provided within the store. In this area, the store provides, for each identified product, both: 1) a physical purchasable unit of the product, and 2) descriptive information about the product. The descriptive information includes: 1) an identification of the product, 2) an identification of the on-line retailer, 3) a price at which the product is offered on-line by the on-line retailer, and 4) a price at which the product is offered at the store. The customer can use the descriptive information to confirm the prices, and can then purchase a physical unit of the product, and can immediately take the unit from the store without having to wait for, and pay for, shipment.
