A method for conducting a plurality of electronic service exchanges over a network and a tangible, non-transient computer readable medium including instructions stored thereon to carry out the method are disclosed. The exchanges are conducted between two or more service providers on a basis of service time and description, and do not involve any monetary transaction. The method includes receiving information about an offered and requested service to initiate service exchanges. A plurality of parameters associated with the offered and requested services and an instruction set for each exchange are then identified. When the identification results in a match between the offered service and the requested service of a first service provider on a first terminal coupled to the network and the requested service and the offered service of at least one additional service provider on at least one additional terminal coupled to the network, the service exchange is conducted.

A method and system for conducting an online payment transaction through a point of sale device. The method includes receiving input from a user selecting an item for purchase through the point of sale device; calculating a total purchase amount for the item in response to a request from the user to purchase the item; and sending payment authorization for the total purchase amount from the point of sale device to a payment entity, in which the payment authorization is sent to the payment entity via a mobile communication device of the user. The method further includes receiving a result of the payment authorization from the payment entity through the mobile communication device; and completing the payment transaction based on the result of the payment authorization.

The third party item listing management system includes an application programming interface (API) accessible by a plurality of third parties and configured to receive item data. An item management process receives the item data and calls an item validation pipeline which includes a plurality of item validation stages including an item legalization stage. In the item legalization stage, the item data and the identity of the third party are validated against a plurality of item listing rules to determine whether the one or more items are allowed to be offered via the retailer website by the third party. The system and method include receiving, by an email payment gateway, an email message comprising a customer email address and a token. The token includes transaction information for a transaction from a third party vendor. The system and method further include determining a registration status of a customer based on the customer email address, wherein the registration status is one of a registered customer of the e-commerce system or an unregistered customer of the e-commerce system. The system and method further include decoding the token and sending an email message to the customer email address based on the registration status and the decoded token.
