Prosthetic Liner Assist Device
A device for assisting amputees donning prosthetic liners uses a plurality of elongate fingers, radially biased about a central space, to support the liner against the residual limb as the liner is applied. Rollers on each finger provide a frictionless traversal of the device by the limb as the limb is inserted into the central space. Hinged connection of the fingers to a base supporting the fingers, as well as hinges allowing each finger to bend, ensure that engagement between the rollers and the liner is maintained during both limb insertion and withdrawal. Elastic bungees or shock cords joining the fingers provide the radial biasing to the fingers toward the central space.
Knit Prosthetic Liner Textile with Differentiated Knit Fabric Exterior Incorporating Low Extensibility Strips
A prosthetic liner having a lower longitudinal stretch in the distal region than in either the proximal or optional intermediate region. The distal region may stretch anywhere from 0-30% vertically and 10-200% horizontally as compared to the proximal region's vertical stretch of 55-125% and 100-175% horizontally. The stretch of the liner at various pressure sensitive regions of a residual limb can also be lowered or heightened depending on the area. A variety of stitches may be used at the distal end to implement this lowered longitudinal stretch. Preferably, the liner is made of a stretchable material. The liner also has an interior layer of elastomer gel. The design of this prosthetic liner is primarily to prevent the “pistoning” of the amputee's residual limb within the liner and for comfort over pressure-sensitive areas of the residual limb. The liner also includes the use of a low extensibility material which is adhered to the fabric portion of a prosthetic liner or orthotic liner either internally or externally and limits the longitudinal movement while allowing for transversal movement. The customizable nature of the invention allows for shaping and personalization depending on the needs of the user.
LINER HAVING DIFFERENT REGIONS OF ELONGATION
A prosthetic liner includes a textile cover having at least first and second regions having different elongation from one another. The first region is in a prestretched configuration in at least one orientation relative to an axis of the prosthetic liner and locked in the prestretched configuration according to a layer of elastomeric material located along a surface of the textile cover.
Responsive Biomechanical Implants and Devices
Prosthetic devices allow for full articulation of the joint, while absorbing impact of the components during normal use that will reduce wear on the device components and prolong life. The device may include a bone implantable component and a bearing component having an articulation surface that is sized and shaped to substantially mate with at least a portion of the bone implantable component and a damping mechanism that includes a contact member disposed at least primarily inside a cavity; a biasing member biasing the contact member toward an upper aperture of the cavity and means for capturing the contact member within the cavity.
Cooling System and Method For A Prosthetic Socket
A prosthetic socket cooling system and method includes a thermally conductive heat spreader including a curved shaped portion configured to maximize contact with a residual limb of a user. A heat extraction subsystem is coupled through a wall of the prosthetic socket and to the thermally conductive heat spreader and is configured to maintain a desired temperature inside the prosthetic socket.
MEDICAL DEVICE INCLUDING A STRUCTURE BASED ON FILAMENTS
A lattice or solid structure for a medical device includes a first layer of first filaments discretely formed from at least one medical-grade silicone material. The first filaments are arranged in a predetermined pattern and may be directly adjacent to one another or spaced apart. Additional layers of filaments may be provided adjacent to the first layer, and chemically bonded thereto to form an integrated structure that is without interruption or with interstices therebetween.
Adjustable socket system
A prosthetic connector system for use with a prosthetic socket having a distal end includes a plate defining a plurality of holes and attachable to the distal end of the prosthetic socket. A component is removably attachable to the plate via the plurality of holes and arranged to connect a prosthesis to the prosthetic socket. The plate defines an outer periphery having an asymmetrical configuration contoured to substantially correspond to at least a portion of the component when the component is attached to the plate via at least some of the holes.
PROSTHETIC COVER
The present disclosure relates to a tube-shaped cover for covering an amputation stump, wherein the cover has at least one open end for introduction of said amputation stump, wherein the cover comprises an elastic textile material in the shape of a tube; a friction increasing material arranged to be in contact with the amputation stump; and a moisture absorbing and/or moisture transferring material, preferably wherein the moisture absorbing and/or moisture transferring material is a moisture absorbing material. The present disclosure also relates to a kit comprising a cover according to the present disclosure and a sleeve configured to create a seal between an upper edge of a prosthetic socket and an amputation stump covered by said cover.
3D Printed Prosthetic Socket For Residual Limb
The invention is a 3D printed prosthetic socket for a residual limb consisting of a 3D printed shell. The 3D printed prosthetic socket comprises a distal end adapted for linking the interconnecting adapter of the socket and a proximal end with an opening adapted for inserting the limb. The 3D printed shell comprises a first housing of the socket comprising an inner wall, wherein between the first housing and the second housing, there is an air gap. The distal end adapted for linking an interconnecting adapter of the socket, the first housing and the second housing are made of single 3D printed part, wherein the first housing comprises an elastic region comprising set of shaped openings, and the first housing is connected with the second housing through a reinforcing structure composed of ribs.
Prosthetic sock management tool
A device and method for managing a plurality of groups of socks where the device includes a plurality of pouches attached to one another and a patient education and compliance tool. Each group has at least one sock. Socks of each of the groups have different characteristics from one another. The groups of socks are adapted for use between a limb of a patent and a socket of a prosthetic device. Each pouch is adapted for securing at least one sock from a group. The method includes sorting the plurality of groups of socks according to the characteristic, associating each pouch with a respective one of the groups, and securing each group of socks within an associated pouch.
