COMPUTER-IMPLEMENTED METHOD FOR AUTOMATED DETECTION OF A MOVING AREA OF INTEREST IN A VIDEO STREAM OF FIELD SPORTS WITH A COMMON OBJECT OF INTEREST

A computer-implemented method is provided for automated detection of a moving area of interest, such as a ball, in a video stream of filed sports with a common object of interest encompassing a plurality of players and the object of interest. Images of a sports ground are captured by means of a video camera system producing a video stream which is digitally processed to continuously identify a detected concentration of action within the boundaries of the field. The concentration of action in the field is determined based on an estimated position of the object of interest in at least one frame of the video stream. Players' postures or orientations may be detected to improve the accuracy of the determination of the object of interest.

Embodiments are directed to an electronic home plate system that includes a home plate enclosure and at least one image sensor system disposed within the enclosure, each image sensor system including an image sensor, a lens and a first processor. The first processor is adapted to detect a motion of a ball by continuously capturing frames from the image sensor. The detecting motion includes capturing a first frame, capturing a second frame, subtracting the first frame from the second frame to create an image, and checking for pixel changes between the first frame and the second frame. The detected motion of the ball includes the ball passing over the home plate enclosure or the ball passing near and not over the home plate enclosure.

TRAJECTORY EXTRAPOLATION AND ORIGIN DETERMINATION FOR OBJECTS TRACKED IN FLIGHT AND SENSOR COVERAGE DETERMINATION

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including medium-encoded computer program products, for 3D flight tracking of objects include a method including determining a golf ball trajectory based on observations by sensor(s), extrapolating the trajectory backward in time, calculating distance measure(s) between the extrapolated trajectory and physical locations, determining one of the physical locations to be an origin of the golf ball based on the distance measure(s) and two types of separately estimated errors, wherein a first of the two types of separately estimated errors affects ball positional error for the initial observations, and a second of the two types of separately estimated errors affects an angle of the extrapolated trajectory; and presenting golf ball data on a display device associated with the origin of the golf ball.

A shot identifying module 220 identifies a flight distance of the golf ball and an angle of a direction from the measurement terminal 10 toward the golf ball with respect to a direction toward which the user terminal 10 is directed at a time of the measurement. A terminal position and orientation identifying module 222 identifies a terminal position and a terminal orientation. A ball position identifying module 224 identifies a ball position based on the terminal position, the terminal orientation, the flight distance of the golf ball, and the angle.

Highlight moment identification technology in volumetric content creation systems

Method, systems and apparatuses may provide for technology that extracts one or more motion features from filtered position data associated with a projectile in a game and identifies a turning point in a trajectory of the projectile based on the one or more motion features. The technology may also automatically designate the turning point as a highlight moment if one or more of the turning point or the trajectory satisfies a proximity condition with respect to a target area in the game.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS TO TRACK A MOVING SPORTS OBJECT TRAJECTORY IN 3D USING A SINGLE CAMERA

Systems and methods are described for generating a three-dimensional track a ball in a gaming environment from a single camera. In some examples, an input video including frames of a ball moving in a gaming environment recorded by a camera may be obtained, along with a camera projection matrix associated with at least one frame that maps a two-dimensional pixel space representation to a three-dimensional representation of the gaming environment. Candidate two-dimensional image locations of the ball across the plurality of frames may be identified using a neural network or a computer vision algorithm. An optimization algorithm may be performed that uses a 3D ball physics model, the camera projection matrix and a subset of the candidate two-dimensional image locations of the ball to generate a three-dimensional track of the ball in the gaming environment. The three-dimensional track of the ball may then be provided to a user device.

Highly accurate shape registration processing is performed. In the image processing apparatus, data, which correspond to N frames (N is an integer not less than 2), in units of frames including a plurality of three-dimensional models per frame is acquired. Then, shape registration processing is performed for the acquired three-dimensional models corresponding to the N frames by using information indicating a correspondence relationship of the three-dimensional models between frames of the N frames.

Estimating tracking sensor parametrization using known surface constraints

A sensor system and a method of operating a sensor system including a plurality of sensors tracking a moving object in an area having known bounding surfaces. The apparatus and method calculate a time-specific position of the object based on data and sensor parameters from at least two of the plurality of sensors and determine errors between the calculated time-specific positions calculated. The method and apparatus calculate a minimum system error attributable to the at least two sensors by constraining at least one dimension in the data of the sensor used in the calculated time-specific position of the object associated with the sensor, the constraining based on an object/surface interaction, the minimum system error calculated by solving for modified sensor parameters for each sensor.
