Systems and methods for identifying an object and presenting additional information about the identified object are provided. The techniques of the present invention can allow the user to specify modes to help with identifying objects. Furthermore, the additional information can be provided with different levels of detail depending on user selection. Apparatus for presenting a user with a log of the identified objects is also provided. The user can customize the log by, for example, creating a multi-media album.

A method for identifying a user using an image of an object of the user that has a biometric characteristic of the user, like a fingerprint or a set of fingerprints of fingertips, the method comprising: obtaining, by an optical sensor of a mobile device, the image of the object; providing the image to a neural network; processing the image by the neural network, thereby identifying both, the position of the object and the object in the image; extracting, from the identified object, the biometric characteristic; storing the biometric characteristic in a storage device and/or providing at least the biometric characteristic as input to an identification means, comprising processing the input in order to determine whether the biometric characteristic identifies the user.
Generation of texture models using a moveable scanner
A method is performed at a moveable scanner with one or more optical sensors. The method includes scanning, using the moveable scanner, an object having a surface. The scanning generates color data from a plurality of orientations of the moveable scanner with respect to the object. The method further includes generating, using at least the color data, a pixel map of the surface of the object, the pixel map including, for each respective pixel of a plurality of pixels: a color value of a corresponding point on the surface of the object; and a value for a non-color property of the corresponding point on the surface of the object.
Generation of texture models using a moveable scanner
A method is performed at a moveable scanner with one or more optical sensors. The method includes scanning, using the moveable scanner, an object having a surface. The scanning generates color data from a plurality of orientations of the moveable scanner with respect to the object. The method further includes generating, using at least the color data, a pixel map of the surface of the object, the pixel map including, for each respective pixel of a plurality of pixels: a color value of a corresponding point on the surface of the object; and a value for a non-color property of the corresponding point on the surface of the object.

One system includes an electronic processor configured to receive detected interactions between a touchscreen and a digital pen representing one or more digital strokes within a canvas and determine whether the one or more digital strokes match a predetermined signifier. The electronic processor is also configured to, in response to determining that the one or more digital strokes match the predetermined signifier, determine a digital ink instance included in the canvas based on a position of the one or more digital strokes within the canvas, extract text from the digital ink instance, submit the extracted text to an answer service as a query, receive a text-based answer to the query from the answer service, convert the text-based answer to digital ink, and add the digital ink to the canvas.
