Systems and Methods for Detecting Threats and Contraband in Cargo
The present specification discloses systems and methods for identifying and reporting contents of a tanker, container or vehicle. Programmatic tools are provided to assist an operator in analyzing contents of a tanker, container or vehicle. Manifest data is automatically imported into the system for each shipment, thereby helping security personnel to quickly determine container contents. In case of a mismatch between container contents shown by manifest data and the contents as ascertained from the scanning system, the container or vehicle may be withheld for further inspection.
Mail processing system and method with increased processing speed
A mail processing system utilizes a conveyor to shingle or de-shingle mailpieces as they move through the processing system and utilizes belts to move the mailpieces. A first shingling conveyor moves a first mailpiece to overlap with a second mailpiece to create shingled mailpieces. A second shingling conveyor moves a first mailpiece away from a second mailpiece to de-shingle them to create singulated mailpieces. A camera takes images of the mailpieces in the conveyor and image analysis software is used to determine dimensional aspects of the mailpieces that are used to control the belt speeds to move mailpieces with respect to each other. A mail processing system may include a mail processing station that scans addresses, applies postage and/or weighs the mailpieces. Mail may be de-shingled prior to being weighed and then re-shingled for subsequent processing, or mail may be shingled prior to passing through a scale if weighing is not necessary.
Vision based conveyor package flow management system
A camera based vision system that recognizes and maximizes belt area utilization. A plurality of cameras are positioned at flow entry points of feed conveyors and at the singulator. The control algorithm recognizes individual items area, the rate at which individual objects are passing, and the area utilization of the collector belt. The video camera and computer based conveyor package management system monitor and control the number and size of the packages present on the infeed conveyors, collector conveyor, singulator conveyor and sorting conveyor in a package handling system wherein the camera data is used to measure the available area or space on the conveyors to maintain a desired density of packages on selected conveyor(s). The conveyor speed is controlled as a function of occupancy on a collector or just prior to a singulator or receiver.
System and method for reading machine readable codes in transportation and logistic applications
A system and computer-implemented method for searching for regions of interest may include performing a first linear image slice of an object including a machine-readable code associated therewith. Interesting blocks within the first linear image slice may be identified. A determination as to whether at least one isolated interesting block or multiple interesting blocks that are adjacent to one another exist within the first linear image slice may be made, and, if so, at least one blob inclusive of the at least one isolated interesting block or multiple interesting blocks being adjacent to one another may be identified, otherwise, the first linear image slice may be discarded. Respective geometrically shaped area(s) that include respective blob(s) may be formed, where the geometrically shaped area(s) define at least one region of interest is which the machine-readable code is located.
Delivery processing apparatus and method for recognizing information provided on delivery target item
A delivery processing apparatus has a recognition unit and a determination unit. The recognition unit executes recognition processing for recognizing information that is provided on a delivery target item based on an image obtained by shooting an image of the delivery target item. The determination unit determines whether or not to extend the recognition processing performed by the recognition unit, based on a degree of progress of the recognition processing that has been performed by the recognition unit in a period from when the information recognition processing was started by the recognition unit until a predetermined time has elapsed, and an extension rate, which indicates a ratio of the number of times that the recognition unit has extended the recognition processing to the number of times that the recognition unit has performed the recognition processing.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PRINTED CODE INSPECTION
This specification describes methods and systems for printed code inspection. For instance, the specification describes a computer-implemented method for printed code inspection by a printed code inspection system operating in conjunction with a production line apparatus configured to move objects along a production line comprising: receiving an image of an object to which a printed code comprising one or more printed characters should have been applied, the image having been captured when the object was located at a particular position on the production line; analysing the image to detect, based on a set of one or more character identification parameters, at least one candidate character within the image; determining, for each of the at least one candidate characters and based on a set of one or more candidate character properties, a likelihood that the candidate character is one of the printed characters of the printed code that should have been applied to the object; determining, based on the candidate characters determined as being likely to be one of the printed characters of the printed code that should have been applied to the object, whether the printed code is present and legible on the object; and outputting an indication as to whether the printed code that should have been applied to the object is present and legible on the object.
Persistent feature based image rotation and candidate region of interest
Embodiments of a system and method for sorting and delivering articles in a processing facility based on image data are described. Image processing results such as rotation notation information may be included in or with an image to facilitate downstream processing such as when the routing information cannot be extracted from the image using an unattended system and the image is passed to an attended image processing system. The rotation notation information may be used to dynamically adjust the image before presenting the image via the attended image processing system.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MAPPING TO FACILITATE DISPATCHING
A method at a server for container location verification within a container yard, the method including requesting image data from at least one image sensor apparatus affixed to a container within the container yard; receiving the image data; and processing the image data to identify a location of a target container.
