END-TO-END MULTIMODAL GAIT RECOGNITION METHOD BASED ON DEEP LEARNING

An end-to-end multimodal gait recognition method based on deep learning includes: first extracting gait appearance features (color, texture and the like) through RGB video frames, and obtaining a mask by semantic segmentation of the RGB video frames; then extracting gait mask features (contour and the like) through the mask; and finally performing fusion and recognition on the two kinds of features. The method is configured for extracting gait appearance feature and mask feature by improving GaitSet, improving semantic segmentation speed on the premise of ensuring accuracy through simplified FCN, and fusing the gait appearance feature and the mask feature to obtain a more complete information representation.

INDOOR NAVIGATION

In accordance with one implementation of the present disclosure, a new approach for identifying a stepping event is proposed in indoor navigation. Generally speaking, a first signal fragment and a second signal fragment respectively within a first time window and a second time window in an acceleration signal stream are obtained, here the acceleration signal stream is collected from an acceleration sensor associated with a moving user, the first time window being shorter than the second time window. A first amplitude feature and a second amplitude feature are determined for the first and second time windows based on the first and second signal fragments, respectively. A stepping event of the user is identified based on a deviation between the first and second amplitude features. With the above implementation, the stepping event is identified in a more effective an accurate way, and thus accuracy of the indoor navigation is increased.

System and method for detecting steps with double validation

A system for detecting steps of a user includes processing circuitry and a sensor configured to detect a variation of electrostatic charge of the user during a step of the user and generate a charge-variation signal. An accelerometer is configured to detect an acceleration as a consequence of the step and generate an acceleration signal. The processing circuitry is configured to: acquire the charge-variation signal; acquire the acceleration signal; detect, in the charge-variation signal, a first characteristic identifying the step; detect, in the acceleration signal, a second characteristic identifying the step. If both of the first and second characteristics have been detected, the presence of the step can be validated.
