Thermoplastic cast having excellent deformability and rigidity and production method therefor
A reusable thermoplastic cast may include: a core material (10) having a net shape as a result of molding a synthetic resin elastomer into a net shape by of injection molding or press-working; and a structure (20), which consists of a polycaprolactone composite material and is molded to surround the outer circumferential surface of the core material (10) by insert injection. Example embodiments improve breathability by forming a cast in a net shape and provide a cast which is structurally sturdy and appropriate for mass production by molding the cast by, e.g., insert injection.
Compliant elbow brace configurations
One embodiment is directed to a brace for limiting motion of a joint of an appendage of that is interposed between a first appendage portion and a second appendage portion of a patient, comprising: an upper member removably coupleable to the first appendage portion, the upper member having proximal and distal ends; and a lower member removably coupleable to the second appendage portion, the lower member having proximal and distal ends; wherein the distal end of the upper member and proximal end of the lower member are coupled to form a movable joint that is substantially alignable with the joint of the patient, such that when the patient attempts to move his appendage and associated joint, motion is resisted at this joint in a nonlinear fashion.
Closure devices including incremental release mechanisms and methods therefor
According to an embodiment, a device for tightening an article includes a housing, a spool rotatably positioned within the housing, a knob operably coupled with the spool to cause the spool to rotate within the housing, and a stop mechanism. The device is configured so that incremental rotation of the knob in a first direction causes a corresponding incremental rotation of the spool within the housing that incrementally tensions a tension member and thereby tightens the article. The device is also configured so that incremental rotation of the knob in a second direction causes a corresponding incremental rotation of the spool that incrementally loosens the tension member's tension. The stop mechanism is configured to prevent rotation of the spool in the second direction when the tension member's tension achieves or falls below a tension threshold.
PAIN MANAGEMENT AND POST-OPERATIVE HIP ORTHOSIS
An improved pain management and post-operative hip orthosis includes a waist strap having first and second ends, a lower strap having first and second ends, and a pocket extending between the waist strap and lower strap. The pocket has inner and outer panels fastened to each other to define an upper opening and a lower opening. A cooling pack including a reservoir and inlet and outlet tubes extending from a bottom of the reservoir is applied to the pocket such that the inlet and outlet tubes pass through the lower opening of the pocket.
Apparatus for stabilizing body joints and/or supporting items of sports equipment
Disclosed is an apparatus for stabilizing body joints and/or for supporting items of sports equipment, comprising: a receptacle, wherein the receptacle is filled with a filling medium, a first body for interacting with the filling medium, wherein the first body is displaceably arranged in the receptacle, a force transmission body for transmitting an external force to the first body, a second body for interacting with the filling medium, which is displaceably arranged in the receptacle, wherein the second body is elastically coupled to the first body via a coupling element, wherein the second body and/or the first body has at least one passage opening, through which the filling medium can flow, and wherein the first body forms a valve body and the second body forms a valve seat, such that a flow of the filling medium through the passage opening can be permitted or inhibited as a function of the valve position, wherein, in a displacement direction relative to the first body, the second body overlaps therewith.
Potentiating support with expandable framework
A method of donning a potentiating support for a hinge joint of a body includes positioning a garment proximate an area of a body; positioning an expandable and recoverable framework in abutment with the area of the body such that the framework spans a hinge joint of the body, the framework defining a plurality of permanent openings extending therethrough regardless of whether the support is donned; applying tension at points of the framework such that the framework is expanded and the framework is tensioned in its abutment with the area of the body, said step of applying tension being performed by pulling on one or more fastening components that are attached at one or more points to said framework; and affixing each of the fastening components to the garment while applying tension to the framework to secure the expanded framework in its forced abutment with the area of the body.
BODY JOINT SUPPORT DEVICE WITH INFLATABLE AIRBAG, ELECTRODE OR BOTH
A body joint support device capable of abutting against at least one body joint and accommodating in configuration both to the bending and non-bending states of the body joint includes a covering structure, a control device, and at least one electrode pad unit and/or inflatable airbag. The covering structure can be worn to the body joint, the electrode pad unit is provided on the inner surface of the covering structure, and the control device is provided on the outer surface of the covering structure. The control device can transmit current to the electrode pad unit so that the electrode pad unit outputs current to stimulate and/or heat muscles. When a body joint moves, the force produced by the covering structure can press the electrode pad unit tightly against the skin at the body joint, so that the electrode pad unit does not become loose due to frequent body joint movement.
ORTHOPEDIC DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCTION
The invention relates to an orthopedic device with a dimensionally stable element (2) for positioning on a body part and a strap (30) for fastening the dimensionally stable element (2) to the body part, the strap (30) being guided through a deflection eyelet (8), wherein the dimensionally stable element (2) comprises at least one fastening device (4) with a feed-through (10) with a longitudinal direction, along which a connection element (6) extends through the feed-through (10) to which the deflection eyelet (8) is attached, the connection element (6) comprising a first end (20) on which a first anchor (22) is formed in such a way that the first end (20) with the first anchor (22) cannot be pulled through the feed-through (10) along the longitudinal direction.
Thermoformable semi-rigid orthoses
An orthosis for supporting a limb or a joint of a human or of a vertebrate animal, including: a sleeve which is at least partly elastic and is designed to enclose a limb or a joint, a plate made of a thermoformable material, and a pocket formed on the sleeve in order to receive the plate, the pocket having a shape adapted to that of the plate. The adherence between the plate and the inner surface of the pocket is treated in order to permit a relative movement of the plate with respect to the material forming the pocket during and after an operation of thermoforming of the plate, this being done by placing the orthosis on the limb or the joint with the plate present in the pocket. This orthosis is designed to be fitted in place and thermoformed by the user himself.
Systems and methods for orthopedic supports
A garment for providing orthopedic support or therapy to a human body may include a tubular flexible element and a tension strap. The tubular flexible element may be disposed around at least some portion of a human body and include flexible and a touch fastener portions. The flexible portion may be at an exterior of the tubular flexible element and cover a first portion of the body. The touch fastener portion may be at the exterior of the tubular flexible element and cover a second portion of the body. The tension strap may include first and second ends, where the first end includes a first touch fastener to be coupled with the touch fastener portion at a first location, and the second end includes a second touch fastener to be coupled with the touch fastener portion at a second location, thereby applying tension between the first and second locations.
