Disclosed is a method for access control, that may include detecting a tactile or a proximity action by a body on a sensor of an electronic device, wherein the electronic device operates in first and second operating modes upon detection of the tactile and proximity actions, respectively. The method may further include generating by the electronic device, first and second signals in first and second operating modes respectively, wherein the each of first and second signals is a very low frequency/low frequency (VLF/LF) electromagnetic signal. The method may further include transmitting the first signal from the electronic device to a receiver through direct touch between a touch panel and the body, or transmitting the second signal from the electronic device to the receiver through air, wherein the receiver is located in close proximity to the body; receiving by the electronic device, a signal in response to said first or second signals from the receiver. The method may further include performing one or more actions by the electronic device, in response to said received signal.

Acoustic personal authentication device, personal authentication method, and recording medium

Provided is a personal authentication device capable of simply securing security with little psychological and physical burden of a user to be authenticated. Personal authentication device includes: storage that stores first and second identification information for identifying a user; analysis unit that analyzes information inputted to a user and generates the first identification information; transmission unit that transmits a first acoustic signal to a part of a user's head; observation unit that observes a second acoustic signal; calculation unit that calculates acoustic characteristics from the first and the second acoustic signal; extraction unit that extracts an acoustic feature amount from the acoustic characteristics as second identification information; and determination unit that determines the user to be identical when first identification information registered and the first identification information generated coincide with each other and second identification information registered and the second identification information extracted coincide with each other.

Pairing consumer electronic devices using a cross-body communications protocol

A wireless device, such as a mobile device, for example, pairs with a peripheral device, such as a wristlet, for example, worn by the user. One or both of the wireless device and the peripheral device, each of which contact the user's skin, determine whether the other is in contact with the body of the same user. If both devices are in contact with the same body, the devices will pair with each other.

System and method for allowing access to electronic devices using a body area network

A method, system and devices for creating access to a wireless communication device by using BAN, comprising detecting the presence of a user's body by using a BAN enabled access module connected to the wireless communication device, collecting biometric data of the user and receiving authentication data from a BAN enabled peripheral device through BAN by using the BAN enabled access module and allowing access to the wireless communication device if the collected biometric data and the received authentication data are valid.

Authenticating a User on Behalf of Another User Based Upon a Unique Body Signature Determined Through Bone Conduction Signals

Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for spoofing bone conduction signals. According to one aspect, a device can compare a first unique body signature associated with a first user to a second unique body signature associated with a second user to determine a first unique effect of a first body of the first user on a signal and a second unique effect of a second body of the second user on the signal. The device can generate an authentication signal based upon the first unique effect and the second unique effect to include signal characteristics that, after propagating through the first body of the first user, are representative of the second unique body signature. The device can transmit the authentication signal through the first body of the first user to an authentication device that authenticates the first user on behalf of the second user.

PAIRABLE SECURE-ACCESS FACILITIES

Systems and methods are provided for providing access to secure-access facilities based on pairing of the secure-access facilities with a user device such as a wearable device. A pairable secure-access facility may be a public storage facility or device such as a locker that includes communications circuitry for pairing with the user device. Once paired with the user device, the locker may operate a locking mechanism to lock the locker when the user device is away from the locker and to unlock the locker when the user device is in the vicinity of the locker. The locker may include a beacon for detecting and pairing with the user devices. Pairing the user device and the locker may include entering a locker identifier into the user device to ensure that the intended user device is paired with the intended locker.

A door frame has a first electromagnetic coil and a door lock has a second electromagnetic coil with a door bolt electromagnetically coupling together the first and second electromagnetic coils, thereby forming a transformer. Power is transferred from the door frame to door lock through the transformer. Communications from the door frame to the door lock may be provided by modulating electromagnetic energy to the first electromagnetic coil and demodulating the modulated electromagnetic energy received at the second electromagnetic coil. Communications from the door lock to the door frame may be provided by varying a load on the second electromagnetic coil and detecting the load change at the first electromagnetic coil.
