Device for supporting at least one arm of a user and for supporting at least one upper arm

A device for supporting at least one arm of a user, has one or more arm support elements, each of which has an arm shell for mounting on an arm. Passive actuator(s) are configured to exert a force on an arm support element by way of which an upward movement of the arm in the arm shell is supported when the device is in the mounted state. The device includes at least one counter bearing for the force to be applied, and at least one actuating element, the actuation of which allows the actuator to be moved into a first state where the actuator exerts the force on the at least one arm support element, and into a second state in which it exerts a smaller or no force on the arm support element.

An adaptive device for a hand for individuals with mobility impairment. The adaptive device comprising a body; wherein the body has a proximal end and a distal end, and wherein the body supports a palm and a wrist when worn by a user. The adaptive device includes two sidewalls extending upward from the body and on opposite sides of the body from each other. At a proximal end of each sidewall, each sidewall includes a slot for receiving a securing member, and wherein the securing member removably secures the hand with the adaptive device when worn by the user. The adaptive device includes a retention member positioned on the body at the distal end and the retention member provides a separation between an index finger and a thumb of the hand, and the retention member removably couples with an interchangeable implement member.

Backdrivable, Electrically Powered Orthotic Device

A compact, powered, orthotic device for pediatric use enables the user to control relative motion of the upper arm and the forearm about the elbow and grasping motions of the thumb and fingers. The device is powered by a set of battery-driven, backdrivable linear actuators that are positioned remotely from an arm of the subject. Control of motion of the device by the subject occurs by means of electromyographic signals from a sensor array in contact with skin on the arm of the subject. The sensors in the sensor array may be held in place on the forearm, on the upper arm, or at any other convenient location on the arm.

Device for Providing Active Assistance to a Body Joint

A device for providing active assistance to a body joint including at least one spring module interconnecting first and second attachment parts. The at least one spring module including first and second elongate link members coupled to the first and second attachment parts respectively and pivotably coupled to each other at a pivot joint with a pivoting axis perpendicular to the first and second elongate link members; a coil spring extending longitudinally between the first and second elongate link members and across the pivot joint, whereby first and second ends of the coil spring are coupled to the first and second elongate link members respectively; and a coil-spring-retaining-member slidable relative to the first elongate link member in a manner so as to vary a portion of a length of the coil spring engaged and retained by the coil-spring-retaining-member to vary an effective length of the coil spring.

A brace for a person's hand has a cradle shaped to extend over the side of the hand in the area between a person's wrist crease and pinky-finger. The cradle may include two opposing curved sides, each side being joined to the other along a longitudinal edge. Opposite the longitudinal edge, each side has a distal edge. The distal edges may be spaced apart from each other by a distance that is approximately the thickness of a person's hand in the area extending from the person's wrist crease to the interstice between the pinky-finger and ring-finger. The cradle is shaped to extend over a side of the wearer's hand between a person's wrist crease and pinky-finger.

HAND-AND-WRIST ACCESSORY DEVICE FOR PEOPLE THAT FACILITATES EXTENSION MOVEMENTS

Disclosed is a hand-and-wrist accessory device formed by an elasticated glove, wherein the ends of the fingers and the end of the wrist comprise an internal elasticated silicone layer that acts as a mechanical securing element for securing to the skin, these securing elements being connected to rigid structures connected to elastic elements, transmitting elastic energy from the wrist to a central floating piece on the dorsal carpus, where it is distributed to each finger terminal, the elastic elements being guided by rigid pieces disposed in the paths extending from the central piece to the finger terminals, to ensure the correct alignment thereof. These external elements have reciprocal securing elements to generate continuity from the wrist terminal to the finger or digit terminals. Cushioned elements are disposed on the palm to redistribute pressure in the wrist areas.
