A station device in a biometric pre-identification system uses identity to perform one or more actions. Identities are determined (such as via a backend) using biometric information. A biometric pre-identification device obtains biometric information and/or a digital representation thereof from a person approaching the station device. The biometric pre-identification device transmits such to the station device, facilitating the station to begin and/or perform various actions. The station device begins or performs the actions using the identity determined based on the biometric information before the person arrives at the station device.

Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for managing access based on activities of entities. A computing device can collect data that comprises an image. The computing device can identify an entity that is located in a range of a sensor. The computing device can determine an identity that is associated with the entity and an activity associated with the entity. The computing device can obtain a trust indicator associated with the entity. The computing device can determine, based on the trust indicator, if the activity should be allowed. If the computing device determines that the activity should be allowed, the computing device can initiate allowing of the activity. If the computing device determines that the activity should not be allowed, the computing device can initiate blocking of the activity.

A system includes a lighting module, a processing module, and photovoltaic units. Each of the photovoltaic units receives light reflected off a body portion which is illuminated by light from the lighting module, and converts light energy of the reflected light into electricity. The processing module stores modes each of which specifies a code set. When one of the modes is selected, the processing module activates the lighting module to emit light based on the code set specified by the mode thus selected. Systems and methods for authenticating users are described herein. One or more inputs including of biometric data, physical trait data, and other data sources may be collected passively when an individual is present in a space. A confidence ratio associated with one or more of the collected inputs may be determined. One or more of the determined confidence ratios may be evaluated together to determine a final confidence ratio for a user, on which an authentication decision is based. An access level may be selected from a plurality of access levels with different access privileges based on the determined confidence ratio. Authentication may be continuous or ongoing.

A method for detecting a biometric feature of humans includes a steps of: dividing signal lines into a plurality of input groups each including a number m of consecutive ones of the signal lines; dividing scan lines into a plurality of output groups each including a number n of consecutive ones of the scan lines such that a plurality of electrode patterns are formed and each is formed by one of the input groups and one of the output groups; outputting a detecting signal to the input groups sequentially; scanning the output groups sequentially; and reading out a plurality of electrical signals respectively of the electrode patterns. The values of m and n can be adjusted to meet various resolution needs.

An information processing apparatus includes: an information management unit that registers boarding information on users regarding boarding and biometrics information on the users acquired by a check-in procedure of the users in association with each other; and a comparison unit that compares target biometrics information, which is biometrics information acquired in a procedure up to the boarding for one of the users, with registered biometrics information, which is the biometrics information registered by the information management unit, and the comparison unit selects the registered biometrics information to be compared with the target biometrics information based on status regarding the procedure up to the boarding of the user corresponding to the registered biometrics information.

An information processing apparatus includes a requester that requests a user to perform an action in response to the user seeking permission, an obtainer that obtains user information about the user in response to the user being requested to perform the action, a determiner that determines whether to provide the permission to the user based on the user information, and a controller that performs control to repeatedly cause, in response to the determiner determining that the permission is not to be provided to the user, the requester to request the user to perform a new action not previously requested by the requester, the obtainer to obtain new user information about the user, and the determiner to determine whether to provide the permission based on the new user information.
