Automated orthotic device with treatment regimen and method for using the same
An automated orthotic device with a treatment regimen and a method for using an automated orthotic device with a treatment regimen to provide a plurality of prescribed tension settings. The orthotic device may comprise a body brace, a controller, a data storage means, and a communication means to address the problem of patients being required to visit the physician's office every time an adjustment must be made in the prescribed tension setting in their automated orthotic device. In one embodiment, a plurality of prescribed tension settings in the automated orthotic device are sorted so that as the patient's condition improves, the next prescribed tension setting in the treatment regimen may be applied. In another embodiment, the physician is allowed to edit or supplement a patient's treatment regimen remotely by connecting to the automated orthotic device over a network.
Orthopedic device
An orthopedic system includes an orthopedic device defining a posterior aspect, an anterior aspect opposite the posterior aspect, and a structure at least in part defining a receiving space arranged to receive an activity tracking device. An activity tracking device is positionable and securable in the receiving space of the orthopedic device. The activity tracking device is arranged to generate information associated with activity level or compliance of a patient wearing the orthopedic device during treatment.
BACK SUPPORT DEVICE
A garment worn on the upper body is provided with a back support system that can be selectively actuated as needed, and otherwise remains relatively unobtrusive when not actuated. The back support system includes a selectively inflatable and deflatable air bladder positioned at a desired location on a rear part of the garment opposite a portion of the wearer's back that needs support. Preferably, the air bladder is disposed within a pocket or compartment, preferably defined on an interior side of the garment, thereby leaving the exterior of the garment relatively unaltered in a visual sense. In a particular example, the air bladder of the present invention has a physical configuration designed to support specific portions of the spinal column as well as adjoining musculature.
ASSISTIVE FLEXIBLE SUITS, FLEXIBLE SUIT SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR MAKING AND CONTROL THEREOF TO ASSIST HUMAN MOBILITY
In at least some aspects, the present concepts include a method for configuring an assistive flexible suit including the acts of outfitting a person with an assistive flexible suit, monitoring an output of at least one sensor of the assistive flexible suit as the person moves in a first controlled movement environment, identifying at least one predefined gait event using the output of the at least one sensor, adjusting an actuation profile of the at least one actuator and continuing to perform the acts of monitoring, identifying and adjusting until an actuation profile of the at least one actuator generates a beneficial moment about the at least one joint to promote an improvement in gait. The at least one controller is then set to implement the actuation profile.

Variable modulus body brace and body brace system
A brace for a part of a body includes a first conductive fiber associated with a first polarity, and a second conductive fiber associated with a second polarity different from the first polarity. The second fiber is woven together with the first fiber and insulated from the first fiber. The brace also includes a selectively electrically activated cross-linking agent between the first and second fibers. The agent is constructed to cross-link in a first active mode when the first and second fibers are electrified and is constructed to not cross-link in a second inactive mode when the first and second fibers are not electrified. The brace surrounds a body part, such as a knee or neck. The agent can include an ER fluid and/or EAP. A brace system includes a selectively electrically activated brace for the part of the body.
Adaptive compression sleeves and clothing articles
The disclosure features adaptive sleeves that include a sensor, an electronic processor connected to the sensor, an adjustable voltage source connected to the electronic processor, and a sleeve formed of a fabric material and including one or more deformable elements attached to or embedded within the fabric material and connected to the adjustable voltage source, where during operation of the adaptive sleeve, the electronic processor is configured to apply a force to a portion of a body of a sleeve wearer in proximity to a contracted muscle in the wearer's body by receiving an input electrical signal from the sensor, and adjusting the voltage source to apply an output electrical signal to the one or more deformable elements, the output electrical signal having a magnitude that is correlated with a magnitude of the input electrical signal.
ARM VIBRATION DAMPING DEVICE
An arm vibration damping device, comprising a housing (9), a longitudinal vibration damping module (1) and a transverse vibration damping module (2), the longitudinal vibration damping module (1) comprising a longitudinal motor (11), a support frame (12) and a mounting frame (13), the mounting frame (13) comprising a U-shape element (131) and a mounting element (132); the support frame (12) being located between the U-shape element (131) and two arms, the longitudinal motor (11) being in a transmission connection with the U-shape element (131); a transverse motor (21) of the transverse vibration damping module (2) being in a transmission connection with the support frame (12) via a reverse mechanism (22); the transverse motor (21), the support frame (12), the U-shape element (131) and the mounting element (132) being arranged along an axial direction of the transverse motor (21). Vibration can be cancelled through movements in a longitudinal direction and in a direction of the longitudinal vibration damping module, and the use of two arms of the U-shape element ensures the stability of the whole mounting frame and a components fitted thereon in a longitudinal movement.
Orthopedic device
An orthopedic device includes a base shell having ankle and foot receiving portions. The base shell forms an opening over a dorsal aspect of the base shell. A dorsal shell is contoured to generally correspond to the opening in the base shell. The dorsal shell includes a proximal member connected to distal member via a flexible or resilient connecting portion arranged to accommodate a portion of a user's lower leg or ankle. A first flexible edge portion is attached to a distal terminal end of the distal member. The first flexible edge portion is arranged to bend or flex relative to the distal member so as to reduce the likelihood of pressure points on the user's toes from the distal member.
SOFT ACTUATOR AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
A selectively actuated textile includes one or more pieces of fabric having one or more circumferentially constrained channels and one or more hollow elastic tubes located within the circumferentially constrained channels and configured to receive a working fluid. Selectively providing or removing working fluid from the hollow elastic tubes provides for selective actuation of the textile.
