A modular ATM system is disclosed herein and can include a safe with a first port, at least one currency cassette and dispenser both positioned in the safe, a recycler, and a plurality of linking transport assemblies. The dispenser can move banknotes between the cassette and the first port. The recycler can be positioned on the safe, have second and third ports, and move banknotes between the second and third ports. The recycler can be positionable in a plurality of different orientations and offsets relative to the safe. The plurality of linking transport assemblies can each be individually engageable with the recycler. Each of the linking transport assembly moves banknotes between the first port of the safe and the second port of the recycler. Each linking transport assembly is individually positionable between the safe and the recycler.

Disclosed is a media rotation mechanism. The media rotation mechanism may include a housing, a media receiver, and a rotation motor. The housing may define a first opening and a second opening. The media receiver may define a media receiver opening. The rotation motor may be configured to rotate the media receiver between a first position and a second position. The first position may correspond to the media receiver opening facing the first opening. The second position may correspond to the media receiver opening facing the second opening.

A medium processing device includes a first, second and third conveyance path, a classification section, a first, second and third switching unit, a first, second and third storage box and a controller. Each of the first, second and third conveyance paths has two ends. One end of the first conveyance path is connected to one end of the third conveyance path. One end of the second conveyance path is connected to the other end of the third conveyance path at a second side of the classification section opposite to the first side. The other end of the first conveyance path is connected to the other end of the second conveyance path. The controller controls the first conveyance path and the second conveyance path so that the first and second conveyance paths are driven independently from each other.

A conveying direction switching apparatus includes a first switching gate that, at a joint portion of a first conveying path, a second conveying path, and a third conveying path, switches between a first conveyance route connecting the first conveying path and the second conveying path and a second conveyance route connecting the first conveying path and the third conveying path, a second switching gate that switches between the first conveyance route and a third conveyance route connecting the second conveying path and the third conveying path, and a free gate that is arranged on a same shaft as the first switching gate such that a second conveyance route side is opened by an elastic body at a joint portion of the second conveyance route and the third conveyance route.
