CASH HANDLING MACHINE
A cash handling machine comprising: a cash handling mechanism for receiving physical articles including cash, sensing equipment for sensing the articles, processing equipment processors, and memory storing code arranged to run on the processing equipment. The code comprises multiple neural networks arranged in a series ordered from first to last, each trained to classify which of a respective set of classes the articles belong to based on the sensed data. The set of classes of each respective neural network comprises a different respective subset of one or more respective recognized classes classifying a respective one or more types of cash recognised by the respective neural network, and further comprising an unrecognized class into which all other articles other than the respective recognized types are classified. For each article, the code starts with the first neural network in the series, using each network in turn to try to recognize the article.

MEDIUM PROCESSING DEVICE AND AUTOMATIC TRANSACTION DEVICE
A medium processing device includes a first, second and third conveyance path, a classification section, a first, second and third switching unit, a first, second and third storage box and a controller. Each of the first, second and third conveyance paths has two ends. One end of the first conveyance path is connected to one end of the third conveyance path. One end of the second conveyance path is connected to the other end of the third conveyance path at a second side of the classification section opposite to the first side. The other end of the first conveyance path is connected to the other end of the second conveyance path. The controller controls the first conveyance path and the second conveyance path so that the first and second conveyance paths are driven independently from each other.

A medium processing device includes a first, second and third conveyance path, a classification section, a first, second and third switching unit, a first, second and third storage box and a controller. One end of the second conveyance path is connected to the other end of the third conveyance path at a second side of the classification section opposite to the first side. In a money handling system (10), a storage cassette (40) is detachably mounted to each of a money change machine (20) and a money depositing/dispensing machine (30) (money handling machine). A determination unit (51) is provided for determining whether or not money has been sent into the money depositing/dispensing machine (30) from all the storage cassettes (40) to which money has been sent from the money change machine (20) when a plurality of the storage cassettes (40) are used in a collection process.
