Utilizing a transaction card to provide secondary authentication for accessing a secure application with a user device

A transaction card includes a near-field communication (NFC) component, a security component, a wireless component, one or more memories, and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the one or more memories. The device receives a signal from a user device attempting to access a secure application, and energizes the NFC component based on the signal received from the user device. The device causes the security component to generate an encrypted code based on the NFC component being energized, and provides, via the security component, the encrypted code to the wireless component. The device provides, via the wireless component, the encrypted code to the user device to permit the user device to utilize the encrypted code as authentication for accessing the secure application.

A fingerprint recognition card is provided to perform authentication and security functions by recognizing a fingerprint of a user and includes a fingerprint recognition unit configured to detect a fingerprint of a user, a control unit configured to perform registration authentication for the detected fingerprint of the user, a communication unit configured to perform tagging to an external reader depending on the registration authentication of the control unit, and an inductive current generator configured to generate an inductive current in response to approaching the external reader. The inductive current generator generates the inductive current when a distance to the external reader is within a predetermined distance, converts the generated inductive current to a direct current (DC), and supplies the output voltage, which is generated by reducing the input voltage of the converted DC, to the fingerprint recognition unit, the control unit, and the communication unit.

SMART CARD PROVIDING SELECTABLE PAYMENT OPTIONS

Typically, online transactions, such as online purchases of products or services require entering sensitive transaction information into a third-party web browser or application. This may expose sensitive transaction information to an increased risk of inadvertent disclosure. Apparatus and methods are provided for a smart card which enables users to securely complete online transactions without entering any sensitive transaction information into a third-party system. The smart card may include a microprocessor and wireless interface. The wireless interface may provide wireless communication capabilities and the ability to initiate online payments based on information captured by the touch-sensitive screen. The wireless interface will receive communications from a merchant or issuer bank requesting payment. The microprocessor may be configured to offer multiple selectable payment options to the user.

DIGITAL SIGNATURE TERMINAL AND SECURE COMMUNICATION METHOD
20210385093 · 2021-12-09 ·

A digital signature terminal device and a secure communication method are provided. The digital signature terminal includes a first module and a second module. The first module includes a communication component configured to communicate with outside and includes a central unit. The central unit includes a memory configured to store data received by the communication component. The central unit is configured to receive an operation from a user, and is controlled, in response to the operation from the user, to be simultaneously connected to the second module and disconnected from the communication component or to be simultaneously disconnected from the second module and connected to the communication component. The second module includes a signature component configured to generate a digital signature for the data, and the second module is configured to send the digital signature to the memory.

Gesture-Controlled Payment Instrument

The present disclosure relates to user authentication using a contactless payment instrument. The contactless payment instrument includes a contactless chip and a gesture control module. The user makes one or more gestures at an access device during a card-present transaction scenario and the gestures are validated and the authentication status is determined by matching the gesture made by the user at the time of the transaction with one or more predefined gestures. If the authentication is successful, the payment instrument transmits the payment information required for conducting the transaction.

LIVE CARD TRACKING

A method for use with a smart card is provided. The smart card may include a communication interface, a housing, a microprocessor embedded in the housing, a battery for powering the communication interface and the microprocessor, and a nano GPS chip, located within the housing and in electronic communication with the communication interface and the microprocessor. The thickness of the smart card is preferably no greater than 0.8 millimeters (“mm”) and has surface area not greater than 86 mm×54 mm. The method may include determining the location of the smart card in response to a request for a smart card transaction authorization and determining the location of a mobile device associated with a specified user of the smart card. Based on the location of the smart card and the location of the mobile device, the smart card may calculate a location delta between the smart card and the mobile device. If the location delta is greater than or equal to a threshold distance, the smart card may deny the request for smart card transaction authorization.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CARDS AND DEVICES OPERABLE TO COMMUNICATE VIA LIGHT PULSING

A card is provided with a light sensor operable to receive information via light emitted from a display screen or another source of light. Accordingly, a mobile telephonic device or portable computer (e.g., tablet computer) may communicate information to a card via light pulses. Information communicated via light may include, for example, points balances, credit balances, debit balances, transaction history, software updates, coupons, promotions, advertisements or any other type of information.

Providing alerts via a color changing transaction card

Methods and systems disclosed herein may communicate information, such as alerts and notifications, to a cardholder via a color-changing transaction card. In particular, the cardholder may configure one or more thresholds that establish when a transaction card may change colors. For instance, a transaction card may change colors at, or while approaching, a first threshold. The transaction card may change colors at, or while approaching, a second threshold. When the cardholder's balance goes below the thresholds, the transaction card may revert back to the lower threshold color or the original color of the transaction card. Using the techniques described herein a financial institution may convey information to a cardholder in a way that does not require the cardholder to digitally engage with the financial institution.
