Tamper detection based on removal of fastener from recess
A point of sale (POS) device includes a flexible member with two exposed conductive areas that are part of a tamper detection circuit. While a recess receives a screw, the screw passes through apertures in the flexible member and in a conductive gasket, and the conductive gasket connects the two exposed conductive areas to one another, closing the tamper detection circuit. Adhesives affix the flexible member to the screw and the conductive gasket to the recess opening so that removing the screw from the recess separates the conductive gasket from the two exposed conductive areas, opening the tamper detection circuit.
Payment processing and messaging system for an unattended kiosk
A point-of-sale system has a card reader, a point-of-sale device, and an intermediate processing module configured to communicate with the card reader and the point-of-sale device. The card reader has a card reader module configured to receive information from a payment card. The point-of-sale device has a POS display and a POS module. The intermediate processing module is configured to receive status information from the card reader module, generate a message associated with the status information, and provide the message to the POS module for presenting on the POS display.
Security devices, systems, and methods for dynamic transaction cards
A dynamic transaction card including: one or more light emitting elements; a transceiver; and an embedded microprocessor configured to: receive, from a transaction terminal, a location information corresponding to a current location of the transaction terminal; wirelessly transmit, via the transceiver and to a mobile device, the location information; receive an indication that a location-specific security concern exists; and in response to receiving the indication, control the one or more light emitting elements to display a visual indication corresponding to the location-specific security concern.
Payment method and system through generation of one-time payment-only number of real card linked with application
Provided are a payment method and system through generation of a one-time payment-only number of a real card linked with an application, wherein in order to make payment safely by generating a one-time payment-only number every payment without leaving card information of a user in a provider's payment terminal or by using the generated one-time payment-only number, when a real card is linked with an application installed on a user terminal and the payment terminal recognizes the real card, a user signature input window, and transaction information about payment performed with a one-time payment-only number generated by a card company server are displayed on a screen of the application of the user terminal, and payment is performed when a signature of the user is input to the signature input window.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ADAPTIVE TRANSCEIVER IN MOBILE DEVICES
A method conducted using a mobile device is disclosed. The mobile device comprises a contactless application including a bridging module, a computer readable medium comprising a contactless kernel, wherein the contactless kernel includes a transceiver interface coupled to a processor. The mobile device includes a contactless element coupled to the processor. The method includes receiving a trigger signal indicative of a transaction to be executed. In response to receiving the trigger signal, the contactless kernel transmits first data to the bridging module. The contactless kernel is operable in a first mode of communication. The bridging module transforms the first data in the first mode of communication to first data in a second mode of communication and passes the first data to the contactless element. The contactless element transmits the first data to a user device, and thereafter receives second data from the user device to execute the transaction.
ELECTRONIC CHIP FOR STORING PLURALITY OF LINKED ACCOUNTS
According to a first aspect of the invention, there is provided a carrier comprising an electronic chip having stored thereon data identifying a plurality of accounts each linked to a respective issuer, wherein the electronic chip is configured to instruct a terminal reading the electronic chip to prompt for selection of one of the plurality of linked accounts before initiating a financial transaction.
Point of sale system having a customer terminal and a merchant terminal
A point of sale system includes a merchant terminal and a customer terminal. The merchant terminal is configured to display a user interface (UI) window on the merchant terminal. The UI window on the merchant terminal displays a merchant-specific version of a screen displayed on the customer terminal. The merchant terminal receives updates from the customer terminal regarding the status of the payment portion for a transaction. The merchant terminal can provide an input to the UI window which is sent as a message to the customer terminal. Control of state for the point of sale system is shared such that when the system is in a first state, the merchant terminal is the state control terminal, and when the point of sale system is in a second state, the customer terminal is the state control terminal and has control of state for the system.
Device for facilitation of payments
A payment device comprising of a housing, a slot for insertion of a user instrument located on a front surface of the housing, and wherein the housing includes a smart card interface integrated circuit that is configured to read an EMV chip located on the user instrument, and a universal serial bus (USB) type C male connector configured to be inserted into a female connector on a computing device, wherein the USB type C male connector is located on a back surface of the housing, and wherein a size of the USB type C male connector is configured so that when the USB type C male connector is inserted into the female connector on the computing device, the back surface of the housing is within a distance of three centimeters of a surface of the computing device.
Logical Validation of Devices Against Fraud and Tampering
Disclosed herein is a method and system to determine whether a payment terminal has been tampered with based on a comparison of attestation data received from the payment terminal, for example in an offline mode when an otherwise secure remote server cannot be reached. If the determination yields that the request has been approved, the terminal generates an attestation ticket having one or more validity conditions, wherein the validity conditions include expiration time that indicates the time after which the attestation ticket becomes invalid. The attestation ticket can be used as long as it is valid or until another trigger causes the ticket to be invalidated or regenerated.
SPEEDING UP CHIP TRANSACTION AT THE POINT OF SALE
A payment transaction is performed at a POS (point of sale) device. The device includes a terminal component and a reader component. The reader component includes a contact interface for establishing a data signal path via conductive contact with an integrated circuit (IC) payment card. A payment transaction is initiated. The data signal path is established between the reader component and the IC payment card. The IC payment card is commanded to generate a cryptogram for verification by an issuer of the card. The cryptogram is received from the card. In response to receiving the cryptogram, a command is issued to disable contact reading operation by the reader component.
