An automated storage system for receiving, storing, and dispensing items is herein proposed. The system has an enclosure, which defines a storage volume, and a port which selectively connects the storage volume to the ambient space for deposit and retrieval of items. The system also includes a plurality of containers for containing at least one item being stored as well as a support structure for supporting the plurality of containers in the storage volume. The containers feature a base, an envelope extending from the base, and an opening opposing the base and providing access to an inner volume defined by the base and envelope for containing at least one item. The system includes a manipulator for transporting the containers between an access position at the port and a storage position at the support structure. Finally, the system includes a one-sided attachment interface between the container and the support structure for removably attach the container to the support structure in the storage position, in which the opening of the container is above the base.

A vending machine comprises a chassis, a shelf system including a plurality of product rows, a plurality of product gates each coupled to an associated one of the plurality of product rows, a movable stage, a retrieval platform, and a vending machine controller coupled to at least one memory. The vending machine controller is configured to determine a product code and a storage location of a selected product for vending, retrieve, from the at least one memory, timing parameters associated with at least one of the product code or the storage location of the selected product, and control one or more timings of one of the plurality of product gates associated with the determined storage location of the selected product, based on the retrieved timing parameters, to release the selected product from the shelf system to the retrieval platform.

Random-access robotic inventory dispensary: operation prioritization

The present application is directed to a robotic system for maintaining product inventory and dispensing products upon request from a customer or other user. Product items are stored in an inventory storage unit (ISU), one item per bin. Controller logic allows items to be stored in, and retrieved from, arbitrarily-assigned storage locations. The bins hang on rails within drawers. Upon a request from a consumer (or other user) in a fulfillment operation, the robot retrieves a bin holding the first item from the ISU. Upon a request from an operator (or other user) in a replenishment operation, the robot transfers an empty bin to an operator station (such as a replenishing unit). The controller logic allows the fulfillment operations to be prioritized over the replenishment operations, in addition to the implementation of other prioritizations.

System and method for determining the orientation of a unit dose package

A method and system are provided for determining an orientation of a unit dose package, such as by determining whether the cavity that houses the medication is facing upwards or downwards. As a result of the determination of the orientation of the unit dose package, a method and system may also be provided for selectively picking a unit dose package, thereby enabling automated restocking of singulated unit dose packages by taking into account the orientation of the unit dose packages.

Apparatus and method for storing, managing, and rapidly dispensing energy cells

An apparatus for storing and dispensing energy cells having a housing with spaced front and rear walls, side walls and a top and a bottom to form an enclosure for containing energy cells. An opening is provided in the front wall of a size to permit a single energy cell to be discharged, the opening having a top portion positioned below the top front edge of an energy cell when the cell is positioned in the upper most position ready for discharge. A platform urges the energy cells upward so the uppermost cell is in a discharge position with the top front edge of the energy cell positioned above the top portion of the opening. The rear wall, top and upper portion of the side wall are cut out to enable a user to engage the rear of the top energy cell to cause its discharge through the opening.

A DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DELIVERING A LABORATORY SAMPLE CARRIER FROM A STACK OF SAMPLE CARRIERS
20170233200 · 2017-08-17 ·

A device and method for delivering a laboratory sample carrier from a stack of sample carriers includes providing a retaining mechanism that retains the stack of laboratory sample carriers, and an ejector mechanism including a displaceable mechanism comprising a carrier support portion and a carrier transporting portion which are hingeably interconnected. The stack is supported by the carrier transporting portion and the carrier transporting portion is supported by a carrier transporting portion support of the ejector mechanism when the displaceable mechanism is in a first carrier receiving position and configuration. The displaceable mechanism is displaced from the first carrier receiving position and configuration to a second carrier release position and configuration by a further displacement mechanism of the ejector mechanism. This involves moving a lowermost carrier from the bottom of the stack in a carrier accommodating region of the carrier transporting portion as the displaceable mechanism is displaced from the first carrier receiving position and configuration. The displaceable mechanism is displaced such that the carrier transporting portion moves past the carrier transporting portion support and drops so that the displaceable mechanism adopts the second carrier release position and configuration and the carrier in the carrier accommodating region is released. The stack is supported with the carrier support portion when the displaceable mechanism is in the second carrier release position and configuration.

Wall-Mounted Vending System

A vending system mounted on a substantially vertical surface (e.g., a wall) in accordance with at least one VESA mount standard.
