Height, depth and circumferential adjustment mechanisms for cervical collar

Cervical collars, components thereof, and methods of using them overcome issues with conventional cervical collars.

Cervical collar

A cervical collar has a chin support slidably connected to an inside surface of an anterior component adapted to secure against an anterior chin and neck of a user. A posterior component connects to the anterior component to circumferentially surround the user's neck. A height adjustment mechanism has spring locks securing the height adjustment mechanism against the anterior component. The cervical collar includes a footplate continuously extending from the height adjustment mechanism generally without a variation in thickness. The posterior component has side portions with a plurality of living hinges located proximate to elongate slots for straps connecting to the anterior component.

SPINAL SUPPORT DEVICE
20170348133 · 2017-12-07 ·

A spinal support device comprises a biomechanically stiff trapezius grapnel adapted to extend over and engage human trapezius muscles from a dorsal position toward a ventral position, a harness coupled to the trapezius grapnel and adapted to snugly anchor onto a human torso to maintain engagement of the trapezius grapnel with the human trapezius muscles, and a penannular cervical spine support portion coupled to and supported by the trapezius grapnel. The cervical spine support portion comprises a series of biomechanically stiff vertebra supports and a series of symphyseal resistive dampers. The vertebra supports are spaced from one another by symphyseal resistive joints formed by the symphyseal resistive dampers so that the vertebra supports alternate with the symphyseal resistive joints. The vertebra supports and the symphyseal resistive joints are positioned for dorsal alignment with respective alternating human vertebrae.

An improved head/neck support device has a disc base that is attached to a hollow tube that in turn receives a first cylindrical component that has a sleeve attached to its outside wall. The device further has a spring coil disposed in the gap between the first cylindrical component and a second cylindrical component, that has a lower portion that has a diameter equal to the spring coil's and a smaller diameter upper portion. The device also has a second hollow tube that engages with the second cylindrical component and constrains the second cylindrical component from sliding out and through the second tube. The device also has a horseshoe shaped elastic band attached to the outer wall of the second tube. The device further has a chin rest that has a third hollow tube, a disc, and a top pad.

BUOYANCY-BASED CERVICAL TRACTION SYSTEM
20170312162 · 2017-11-02 ·

A buoyancy-based cervical traction system has a floatation and a head rest supported by the flotation system. The head rest is adapted to support a person's head above the neck and apply traction to the neck when the person is in a body of liquid. The system has a position adjustment system adapted to allow selective adjustment of the position at which the person's head rest will be relative to an upper surface of the liquid when the person and the cervical traction system are in the liquid, the person's head is supported by the head rest, and the cervical traction system and person are floating in the liquid at equilibrium.

CLAVICLE FRACTURE INFANT BRACE
20170290696 · 2017-10-12 ·

The present disclosure describes an infant brace for treating an infant with a fractured clavicle. The infant brace includes a torso portion for receiving the donning infant's torso, and an arm portion for receiving the donning infant's arm on the side coinciding with the fractured clavicle. The infant brace is formed from an elastic netting material. The infant brace provides effective immobilization of the infant's affected upper arm while minimizing risks of over-heating or causing pressure sores.
