A game is provided that may include a plurality of reels, each of the reels comprising a plurality of symbol positions; a plurality of symbols, at least one of the plurality of symbols located in at least one of the plurality of symbol positions; a set of program instructions executable to implement: accepting a wager; receiving an instruction to initiate play of the game; determining a game outcome including a stopping point of the plurality of reels; displaying a portion of the plurality of reels at the stopping point on the display device, the portion of the plurality of reels comprising a first row; issuing a first award and unlocking a second row if a first winning symbol combination is positioned in the first row; and displaying the second row if the second row is unlocked, and issuing a second award if a second winning symbol combination is positioned in the second row.

A gaming system which enables a player to selectively participate in a retriggered free game sequence. The present disclosure relates generally to systems and methods for providing symbol upgrade features in games. An illustrative method includes receiving a first input from a player interacting with a gaming device initiating a first play of a game, where the game comprises an array of cells. The method further includes determining that a randomly-generated first distribution of symbols includes a common symbol in a first cell and a second cell. The method further includes upgrading a cell in the array of cells with an upgrade symbol, where the upgrade symbol represents that the common symbol in the first cell and the second cell have been combined into the upgrade symbol in response to determining that the first cell and the second cell include the common symbol.

A gaming system, gaming device, and method using a deck of cards containing statistics and identifying information from real-world sports players is described. The cards in the deck may contain the player scores for a set of games or matches as well as other player-related information. The gaming system and device randomly generate a hand and randomly select one of the player's pre-determined scores for each of the cards. The user's score may be determined through a variety of methods utilizing the player scores on the cards in the user's hand. The outcome of the user's hand may be determined by matching the user's score with a pay table, or for a multi-user game, the outcome may be determined by finding the highest scorer among the participating users.

A gaming device having a processor to control a display to display a set of prize levels having a bottom level, a variable level associated with a variable prize, and an intermediate level. In each of a plurality of game instances, the processor selects a plurality of symbols, control the display to display the selected symbols, determines whether the symbols displayed include increment symbols, upon the symbols displayed including the increment symbols, increments the variable prize by respective amounts of the increment symbols, evaluates symbols displayed for a winning combination, and the symbols displayed including the winning combination, increments from a current prize level to a different prize level in the set of prize levels provided the different prize level is not a top level. At an end of the plurality of game instances, the processor awards a current prize of the current prize level.
Gaming machine and method with a bonus symbol array
A gaming machine comprises a display and an electronic controller for playing a first game. The electronic controller is configured to randomly determine whether to display one or more bonus symbols in the first game, each bonus symbol being associated with a bonus value award. Where a trigger event occurs during the first game, such as the appearance of a predetermined order of bonus symbols, electronic controller is configured to display an array of the bonus symbols on the display or optionally on another display. Where bonus symbols appear in further plays of the first game or plays of a second game, the bonus symbols are added to the array and bonus symbols present on the array are sequentially transferred to a win meter, which increments by the amount of the associated bonus value award of each transferred bonus symbol.
PERSISTENT SYMBOL POSITION ARRAYS WITH ARRAY GROWTH IN BOTH BASE GAME AND FEATURE GAME
Electronic gaming machines and systems are disclosed that provide for a symbol-based main game that features an array of symbol positions that may, if an array growth condition is met, increase in size. Determining whether the array growth condition is met may involve determining how many array growth symbols are shown in association with a game play. A further determination may be made as to whether a feature game trigger condition is met and, if so, a feature game may be presented that utilizes the same array of symbol positions that were present in the main game when the feature game was triggered. Additional array growth may occur in the feature game if the array growth condition is met again.
