Disclosed herein is a method where a consumer employs a device associated with the user to scans tags associated with items for purchase. The consumer can pay for the items using the device associated with the user. A point of sale (“POS”) terminal or other such device associated with the merchant scans tags associated with items associated with the user and reconciles the items scanned by the device associated with the user with the items scanned by the device associated with the merchant.

A point of sales (POS) system includes a terminal configured to, upon scanning of a commodity, acquire a code thereof, a server configured to, upon receipt of the code, register the code in association with a preset weight of the commodity, and a scale configured to measure a total weight of commodities in a cart. The terminal is configured to detect a decrease in the total weight and transmit an amount of the decrease to the server. The server is configured to, upon receipt of the amount, determine whether a commodity code associated with a matching weight value is already registered, and upon determining that the commodity code is already registered, issue a command that causes the terminal to display a screen through which inputs can be made for indicating that the commodity has been taken out or cancelling the registration of the removed commodity.

An information processing apparatus includes a processing circuit. The processing circuit has programmed instructions to acquire a first number of commodities specified to be purchased based on first data acquired by a first sensor, acquire a second number of commodities stored in a storing body that stores commodities to be purchased based on second data acquired by a second sensor, compare the first number of commodities with the second number of commodities, and provide a notification to a display device in response to the first number of commodities being different that the second number of commodities.

A method for hiring out transportation means for transporting goods, wherein, at a depot, at least one transportation means is provided for use and return. Each transportation means has a detection means. The user of a transportation means carries a mobile communication device. The method uses at least one motivator to motivate the user to return the transportation means. Before return of the transportation means to the depot, the mobile communication device and the transportation means are associated by using a detection means in a first detection process and identifiers of the mobile communication device and the transportation means, which are linked, are stored by at least one computer system. Upon return of the transportation means, a second detection process is done. Data obtained by the two detection processes are used by the at least one computer system to allow the use of the at least one motivator.

Systems and methods related to point-of-sale devices are disclosed. In an embodiment, a point-of-sale system includes a base stand having a receiving interface that includes first electrical contacts. The POS system may further include a computing device having a user interface, a docking interface comprising second electrical contacts, wherein the docking interface is configured to removably dock the computing device to the receiving interface of the base stand such that the first electrical contacts of the computing device are in contact with the second electrical contacts of the base stand. The computing device may further include a card reader configured to receive and read a card when inserted into the card reader and a scanner configured to scan machine-readable codes. The computing device may be configured to extend or enable various functions of the base stand when the computing device is docked to the base stand.

Disclosed is a digital keyboard system for allowing a user to send instructions over a communication network. The digital keyboard system includes a memory unit, a processing unit, and a display unit. The memory unit stores plurality of modules. The position tab module is coupled to the pre-programmed keys module for displaying plurality of position tabs as arranged in a keyboard. The user replaces any position tab with any pre-programmed key to create a configuration. The digital keyboard module displays only the configured pre-programmed keys at the same position where the user replaces the position tabs with the pre-programmed keys, further the digital keyboard module allows the user to input instructions corresponding to the pre-programmed keys. The communication module is coupled to the digital keyboard module for sending the received input instructions over the communication network. The digital keyboard system is used to communicate with a scanner to receive product details and further sends the information related to the product details over the communication network.
