The present disclosure may be embodied as a pillow speaker system. The pillow speaker system includes a nurse call patient station and a patient interface device (PID). The PID is in electronic communication with the nurse call patient station, and includes a wired communication link connected to the nurse call patient station and an energy storage device for providing backup power to the PID. The energy storage device is galvanically isolated from the wired communication link. The PID is configured to receive audio signals from the nurse call patient station by way of the wired communication link. The PID may also include a power port for receiving electrical power from an external source. The power port is galvanically isolated from the wired communication link.

The present invention relates to a flooring system for generating electricity from users as they walk. A flooring system (1) for characterizing a footstep (2), comprising: a plurality of tiles (200) for supporting one or more people; and a plurality of sensors (100x, 100y, 100z), each sensor (100x, 100y, 100z) arranged to generate a signal representing a force applied thereto, wherein each tile (200) is supported by at least three sensors (100x, 100y, 100z), the flooring system (1) further comprising a data processing system (1001) in communication with each sensor (100x, 100y, 100z) for receiving the signal generated thereby, wherein for each tile (200): the data processing system (1001) is arranged to produce output data by comparing the signals received from the sensors (100x, 100y, 100z) supporting that tile (200) to estimate the location of a footstep (2).

A method for beacon device-based customer notifications is provided. The method is implemented by a computing device including a processor. The method includes receiving, from a beacon device, a beacon device advertisement that includes a universally unique identifier (UUID), a major identifier, and a minor identifier. The method also includes identifying, based on at least one of the UUID, the major identifier, and the minor identifier, that the beacon device is associated with an agent location, where the agent location is corresponds to a bill payment and money transfer facility. The method further includes generating a payment notification for display on the computing device, where the payment notification includes payment data and agent location data, receiving, from a user, an instruction to prepare to make a payment at the agent location, and causing the agent location to stage the payment for completion by the user.

An example device can include instructions to receive an alert message via an operations management server, access a plurality of alert responder profiles in storage, each associated with a respective alert responder and determined based on historical actions of the respective alert responder, and communicate the alert message to an alert responder having an alert responder profile that exceeds a threshold correlation with the alert message.

A wearable reminder or gesture control device is provided using two different types of gestures obtained from two different types of sensors. The device outputs audio to a user but does not have a display, a keypad, or speech recognition software, therewith significantly reducing size, storage requirements and power consumption. A dispatch management computer system that integrates with an existing nurse call system for clinical workflow optimization and to create accountability for patient satisfaction and outcomes. The system integrates a quarterback (e.g., dispatcher) tablet with a custom dispatch application that presents a floor plan for tracking the RTLS position of staff members and to provide a visual indication of which room and bed the call originated from. When a patient requests assistance, the QB application presents an assessment of the patient needs and, if further assistance is required, provides the dispatcher tools for real time assignment of the appropriate staff member and dispatch to begin the task within a predetermined amount of time required to complete the task allocated. The system enables the prompt assignment of staff personnel and assures that a patient receives prompt staff attention.

An optical connector includes a first sub-assembly that is factory-installed to a first end of an optical fiber and a second sub-assembly that is field-installed to the first end of the optical fiber. The optical fiber and first sub-assembly can be routed through a structure (e.g., a building) prior to installation of the second sub-assembly. A medical fluid delivery system and apparatus for remote machine updating and control are disclosed. An example medical fluid delivery apparatus includes a processor and a dialysis fluid circuit including at least one dialysis fluid pump. The processor determines a dialysis treatment or a preprogrammed task is not being performed by the least one dialysis fluid pump. After determining a dialysis treatment or a preprogrammed task is not being performed, the processor activates a connectivity agent to communicatively couple to a server via a network. The processor then receives, from the server via the connectivity agent, a command message to perform a preprogrammed task. The processor next deactivates the connectivity agent to stop communication with the server and causes the at least one dialysis fluid pump to perform the preprogrammed task.

A system may automatically conduct hygiene cycles for a confined space such an interior space of a box suitable for storing and/or carrying packaged food. The system may include a hygiene device that can be attached to the box to conduct the hygiene cycles and a user interface device that can wirelessly communicate with the hygiene device to control the conduction of the hygiene cycles. The system may also automatically collect information related to the hygiene cycles using the hygiene device and transmit the collected information to a network directly or through the user interface device.

Aspects of the disclosure are directed to a mail notification system. In accordance with one aspect, a mail notification system, includes an energy emitter device configured to emit energy; a sensing device coupled to the energy emitter device, the sensing device configured to receive the energy from the energy emitter device to produce a sensed signal; a detection device coupled to the sensing device, the detection device configured to detect a transition state of the sensed signal and configured to produce a digital message; and a housing configured to receive one or more mail, wherein the housing houses the energy emitter device, the sensing device, and the detection device.
